dominant. Those wound up working in support roles for the pack or for the companies which provided the cash to maintain and run our building pack home. If the shit truly hit the fan, they too would defend humanity and join the fight, but fights that large hardly ever happened. It made sense, to protect the weaker ones and only let the strongest fight to protect humans.
It was also our nature, as an alpha myself I felt a protectiveness of not just humanity, but every single shifter weaker than I was in the pack.
They didn’t suffer from a lack of pride by doing so either, for not joining the fight directly I mean. They knew that without them there the enforcers couldn’t concentrate on keeping humanity safe from supernatural threats. Even the least powerful and most submissive of shifters truly made a difference through their service to the pack, and they were respected for their contributions.
Regardless, keeping the building clean, and taking care of the alphas living space, cooking, cleaning, and all of that so she could focus on the important things, was one of the ways that happened.
Ginny bounced twice in her chair and smiled widely, “Great actually, once I got your text, speaking of which,” she paused filling up her plate, and took her cell phone out and opened up the photo app. She flipped through a few pictures and then held up her phone.
It was a picture of a middle-aged man, a driver’s license photo most likely, just a head shot.
I nodded, “That’s one of the five men I saw.”
Her scent was ecstatic, and it held the promise of violence in it as she swiped twice and held it up again, showing a light blonde-haired woman that I also recognized, and nodded.
She smirked, and she put her phone up as she went back to loading her plate. She winked at me and was clearly very happy as I started to eat, and she followed up. After we polished off the first two pulled pork sandwiches and a pile of potato salad, she stopped for a breath as we made the next two. Shifters ate a lot to maintain our magic, especially after exhausting it on changing our forms, or for me magic spells as well.
She said, “I recognized the address of course, but I did my best not to assume until you just verified. That bastard Silas Greenwood is coming back to town for some reason, perhaps what you saw was him tying up loose ends. His witch must have screwed up, from what you told me I bet the house was blocked from visions, but for some reason you picked up on their arrival, visitors, then them leaving from the outside. The two pictures I showed you was him and his rogue witch. Regardless, it’ll be good to finally end the bastard. I’ll call a meeting after lunch.”
I asked, “You’re going after them, I mean we are?”
She bit her lip, “Yes. I want to take him down. Some alphas take a more active role in fighting and with their enforcers, though my father didn’t I have the feeling I will. At least, the important ones. Silas is an alpha after all, and he has a witch on his side. It’ll be much safer if the three of us goes along with an enforcer team or two, you and Tiffany can concentrate on the rogue witch, while I and the teams go for Silas and his five shifter escort,” she waved a hand, “We’ll plan more later.”
I nodded, “That sounds fine to me, I couldn’t imagine standing by while sending people out either. As long as I’m there the times you go out and fight.”
She smirked, “Is that an order, mate?”
I grinned, “Yes, I think it is. It’ll help me maintain my sanity and peace of mind, because I doubt you’ll need saving.”
She giggled, “Fine. But out there I’m alpha of this pack and you take my orders.”
I smirked, “Understood, maam. I lead the family, you lead the pack, I’m not confused about that.”
She smirked, “I love you, Sam.”
Tiffany said, “I’d love to come too. Even if it isn’t official between the races, my place is with you two if trouble is coming.”
She nodded, “I kind of figured that, and thanks. Oh, I’m going to make the announcement of who’s head enforcer, if my choice agrees. How would you feel about taking on my old role? I know you’re done with your fight training, and you’ll just
