squared away.
Hanging up she looked over at Chase, and said, "You'll be my husband just after 10:00 a.m. tomorrow. No more time for regrets."
He laughed. "No regrets, babe."
"Good." She smiled as she looked down at her ring. The sun still shined brightly in the sky, but it wasn't nearly as beautiful as her ring.
"Oh no. We have to get rings. I don't have a ring for you. Do we have time to do that?"
His smile was beautiful. Infectious. "Yes, of course, there must be a jewelry store in town, look it up."
Quickly typing in jewelry stores she scrolled through the chain stores, thinking maybe a local jeweler would be best. Finding two, she tapped the directions to the first one and her GPS began telling them which way to go. It said only 5.3 miles, so they'd be there soon.
Excitement raced through her body as she thought about all that had happened today. Funny how life could change so much in one day. She'd thought about marriage, but honestly wasn't sure Chase was there with her yet. To hear he'd been thinking about this for some time was amazing. Also, a bit head spinning. Who knew he loved her so much? She would have been afraid to hope for that.
He slowed and pulled to the curb in front of a beautiful jewelry store. The outside had polished wooden trim around the exterior. Its window sparkled like the diamonds displayed inside it and the red carpet that led them to the door was a very posh touch.
Entering they were greeted by a nice, younger man wearing a very smart suit in dark blue and a crisp white shirt with a matching blue tie.
"Welcome to Bernstein Jewelers. Is there anything, in particular, I can help you with?"
Taking the lead this time, she said, "We need wedding bands."
Chase corrected her. "Actually, just one wedding band, for me. I've got hers already."
Her brows furrowed as she looked up at him. "You do?"
"Yes, Lu, it's a set."
"Oh." She swallowed. "Wow."
He chuckled and ushered her further into the store as the young clerk walked to a glass case filled with wedding bands.
"What are you thinking? Silver? Gold? Tungsten?"
Chase responded without a thought. "Tungsten."
He wrapped his right arm around her shoulders, and she shook her head. He had really given this a lot of thought. She felt stupid that she hadn't. But, she was honestly afraid to get that confident about it. The last thing she needed was to have her heart broken.

Chase woke up hearing the shower running. A quick glance at the empty bed beside him confirmed that LuAnn was already up and very excited to get ready. He chuckled as he glanced at his phone for the time and realized it was already 8:00 a.m. It wasn't all that early. They'd done a fair amount of celebrating last night. A bottle of champagne in the room, along with strawberries dipped in chocolate, compliments of the hotel upon hearing their great news. Then, they'd made love just like they liked it. Long, slow and oh so good.
Touching her made his skin feel better. Kissing her made his lips feel as though they'd been made to kiss her lips. Sliding into her warmth, well, that made him feel like she was put on this earth to be his. And, that was what he was going to do today. Make it legal.
Tossing the covers back, he walked to the bathroom, his erection already growing as he thought about how she felt last night.
As he opened the door, his phone rang, and he let out a long sad sigh. Shit.
Stalking back to the bedside table he saw the caller's name. Dog.
He rolled his head back and forth, sat down on the bed, with his back to the headboard, clutched the covers and pulled them over his now softening erection and answered the phone.
"Morning."
"Good morning, Chase. I'm sorry to bother you but I wanted the chance to talk to you. Is this a good time?"
"I have a few minutes, but I have an appointment at 9:15 I have to be on time for."
"Okay. So, listen, I feel bad about how things went down at the weddings. I know I've apologized, but I could tell you were still pissed at me when you left, and I don't blame you. I am so sorry, Chase. I shouldn't have accused LuAnn of trying to harm Maddie and Dakota."
His heartbeat sped up and he was getting mad all over again. "Shouldn't you be
