she could feel how solid and muscular he was now. He'd spent a fair amount of time working out. His hair, still longer, brushed his shoulders. It was darker though, like he had it cut regularly and all the lighter sun-bleached ends were gone, which left dark, shiny, thick hair. His dark hair blended with his dark brown eyes, which had always been beautiful to look into, but now they held emotions in them other than having a crush on her. Sometimes she could almost see the emotions flowing through them. It was the most interesting thing to watch. His face, strong and classic, and she enjoyed the feel of the fine silky hairs as they brushed against her skin while their lips danced together. His scent wrapped around her and in a short moment, he filled her senses, all of them.
She kissed him back, enjoying the feel of his lips on hers. Her nipples pebbled as their tongues slid against each other. Emotions zinged around her body, creating goose flesh on her arms, and interesting feelings between her legs. She'd set sex aside for so long that she was surprised at the flush of emotions that whirled in her body and mind right now. It was dizzying. It was also exhilarating that those feelings were back again. She'd worried that she'd tucked them so far down they'd never surface again.
She and Chase had always been very sexual in the past. He liked sex the same way she did. Fast, hot, wild. Doubts and jealousy slipped into her mind and the thought that Chase very likely had not been celibate while she'd been locked away in prison came crashing down on her. Her eyes filled with tears even while their lips were touching.
She pulled away slightly and couldn't move fast enough to stop a tear that slid down her cheek before Chase saw it.
His thumb moved to her cheek and gently swiped away that errant little tear as his eyes looked directly into hers. He didn't say anything; he simply waited.
She inhaled and exhaled rapidly then softly said, "I wondered if you'd been with a lot of other women while I was away. You were always very sexual, and I can't blame you; you didn't owe me celibacy, but I did...do wonder."
He nodded slightly. "I've been with a couple. No one special. No one worth remembering."
She smiled but it was fake, she could feel that it was, but it was all she could do at this moment. "Understandable."
Slowly turning her head to see the sun now touching the water across from them, they sat in silence as the sun dipped into the water. It actually looked like it fell into the river and disappeared down below. Nature sure was interesting.
Chase had sat just as quietly as she, neither of them moving or saying anything further. Both of them likely afraid of what happened next. But she was getting used to that feeling, it was likely how her life would be from now on.
"Ready to head home?" His voice was gruff and filled with some unknown emotion. It was dark now and difficult to see his eyes.
"Yeah." She scooted off the table and stood. Walking to Chase's bike she pulled up the lid to the back tour pack and pulled a light sweater out. The air would be cooler now and usually the bugs came out in the dark, so it would keep her a little cleaner too.
Closing the lid, she waited as he climbed on his bike and nodded for her to get on the back. She did, but she held herself back instead of leaning forward and resting against him. A wall had just been erected between them and she wasn't sure why. They had no agreement when she went to prison. They weren't a couple, and based on the reason she went to prison, she had no business making any demands on anyone. It still hurt though. All of it. Rolling Thunder, Chase and other women. She should turn him loose completely so he could find someone that his friends would accept and not tear him apart over. But, that thought cut through her like a knife. Even though her possessiveness of Dog had resulted in a prison sentence, she decided to be possessive of Chase for a bit. She'd might get the courage to talk to Greg about it, too. He was good at giving advice and he knew Chase so well that would be just the
