fourteen, but I’ll ask Dezi and Kash to keep an eye on her.”
Morgan sighed in relief. “We’re going to stay the night somewhere?”
Kenny nodded.
Morgan fidgeted in the chair. “Where are these said bags you mentioned?”
“Next to the front door.”
Morgan slid from the chair, forcing Kenny to stand up. “Um, okay, I’m just going to go check the bag really quickly, and then we can go.”
Before Kenny could say anything, Morgan left out of the kitchen as if he was on fire. He would have chased after him if Logan hadn’t trudged his way into the kitchen. He made his way to the coffee machine but never got to making any coffee, just stood there staring at it.
“I won’t ask how you’re holding up—”
“But you’re going to say something anyway,” Logan said grumpily.
Kenny started scooping out the pre-ground coffee. “Just that you can end your misery whenever you’re ready.”
Logan ground his teeth. “I know that,” he said through clenched teeth. “It’s just not that easy.”
Kenny poured in the measured water before hitting On and then Brew. “I know—sorry, I just don’t want to see you suffer.”
Logan nodded. They didn’t speak anymore. Logan poured his own coffee and bypassed the sugary creamers for regular whole milk. It was more serious than Kenny had thought. He sent a text to both Kash and Dezi, and just in case, Rhy, Cole, and Clyde, making sure they all kept an eye on Logan.
Kenny: Whole milk not creamer.
Dezi sent a shocked-emoji face followed by eyes. Rhy and Clyde both replied confirming they would keep an eye on Logan. Cole, ever the optimist, suggested a nice day shifting and rolling in the leaves would help. Kenny glanced Logan’s way one last time. He just stared into his coffee as if it would give him answers. Kenny hoped Cole was right.
“Ready,” Morgan said.
Kenny walked out of the kitchen and found Morgan with flushed cheeks standing with his overnight bag swinging behind him.
What on earth could he have possibly packed that Kenny had forgotten?
Kenny knocked on Ava’s door. She came to the door, music blasting in the background. Kenny rubbed his sensitive ears, and Ava quickly turned it down.
“Sorry,” she said.
“We’re leaving and will be gone all night.”
Ava gave them a thumbs-up. “Have fun.”
“If you need anything—” Morgan started.
“I know, Papa. I have both alphas here and not to mention everyone else.”
Morgan pulled Ava into a hug.
“You’re just leaving for a night,” she said.
She had a point, but Kenny could understand Morgan’s feelings about leaving Ava even if it was for only a night. He wrapped his arms around both.
“Love you, kid,” Kenny said.
Ava smiled up at him. “Love you both. Now can I go back to listening to my music?”
They left the house, and an hour later, they were pulling up to the hotel. Kenny grabbed their bags from the trunk and passed the keys over to the valet for parking. They made their way inside; the hotel had a luxurious feel to it.
“I have reservations under Kenny Jones.”
The receptionist smiled at them.
“Yes, you have a honeymoon suite with the full spa package.” She passed him two room keys and two white rubber wristbands. It had the hotel logo and numbers.
“Those are your passes for the spa. Enjoy your stay.”
Kenny thanked her. Morgan was already smiling.
“A spa day?”
“Do you not like it?” Kenny asked, worried he should have picked something else.
Morgan waved his hands in front of him. “I love the idea; I’ve never been to a spa before.”
The knot in his stomach untwisted. “Then your first time will be with me.”
They made it up to their room; it was spacious, with a king-size bed in the middle. There was a sitting area near the window, but on the other side of the bed was a large Jacuzzi and a basket that held flower petals, candles, and bath bombs. Too many smells for shifters to handle, but it was a nice touch.
“It’s beautiful,” Morgan said, standing near the window and looking out at the town below.
Kenny moved in behind him, trapping his mate between him and the window.
“Not as beautiful as you.”
Morgan twisted around, bringing their lips together. Kenny could easily spend forever kissing his mate.
“Let’s go enjoy our spa day.”
Morgan kissed the corner of Kenny’s mouth. “You spoil me.”
That was the plan. They made their way back down the elevator and exited on the second floor, where the spa was located. Their bands were checked before they went in.
“Please get undressed and into your robes.”
They started with
