lasted until a contraction hit, and all breathing went out the door. Instead Kash groaned and white-knuckle gripped Dezi’s hands.
“My legs hurt. How much longer?” Kash asked.
“On this next contraction, we need you to push,” Kelsey said.
Kash’s golden hair clung to his sweaty face. He licked his dry lips.
“Okay.”
“You got this, Kitten. Don’t you want to meet our two hairballs?” Dezi asked.
Kash laughed weakly. “You did not just refer to our kids as hairballs.”
Dezi didn’t get to answer as Kash groaned and started to push. Morgan stood nervously to the side, ready for the moment. His heart thudded wildly in his chest.
“Keep pushing. Almost there,” Logan encouraged.
Kash bit down on his lips to the point he bled, but all too soon he was sagging against Dezi as Logan held up a baby boy. Morgan was in a daze; Logan had to shout his name a few times before he responded.
“Sorry,” he said.
He moved closer and wrapped the blanket around the baby. Logan rubbed the baby’s back, and it resulted in a loud cry. Dezi got up and grabbed a chair for his mate. Kash sat awkwardly, but he seemed unfazed by it. Dezi cut the umbilical cord as Logan laid the baby on Kash.
“One down, one more to go,” Logan said.
“Okay, Morgan, I need you to take—” Logan looked to Kash and Dezi expectantly.
“Ramsey,” they replied in unison.
Kash stared lovingly at his son. “Rainar will be our other son’s name.”
“Cute names,” Logan said. He turned to Morgan. “Take Ramsey over there and place him in the small little bed on wheels.”
Morgan waited another second before Kash handed Ramsey over. Morgan walked around to the other side of the infirmary, and he wrapped the blanket tighter around Ramsey and rocked him a little before putting him down.
Contractions came and went, but Rainar had yet to make his appearance. Ten minutes later and Rainar was finally ready.
“Okay, give me a good push, Kash,” Logan said.
Kash groaned. “Okay, I’ll try.”
The contraction came, and Kash began to push. Logan counted out loud. Kelsey on the other line cheered her brother on. Morgan joined in.
“You got this, Kash.”
“I see the head. Don’t give up on me, Kash.”
Kash continued to push and just when it looked as if they were going to have to wait for another contraction, Rainar slid out. In one breath to the next, Rainar let out a cry that rivaled his brother’s. Morgan was there with a blanket in hand, not as stunned as the first time. Dezi cut the cord as Rainar lay on Kash’s chest.
“All right, Kash, I need you to give me a little push so the placenta can come out,” Logan said.
Kash whined, but he did it. He sagged against Dezi the moment something wet hit the tarp.
After a few seconds, Logan popped his head up. “Okay, Dezi, you can move him back to the bed.”
Dezi scooped Kash and Rainar up and deposited them back on the bed. Kash cooed at Rainar. Morgan gently picked up Ramsey and handed him over to Dezi, who had the biggest grin on his face.
“Wait till you both see your room. I came up with the theme.”
The moment was absolutely beautiful. Logan came up behind Morgan.
“Thanks. I know we didn’t talk about this ahead of time, but I thought Kelsey was going to be here. Sorry.”
Morgan shook his head. “It’s okay. I’m glad I was some help.”
“Thank you, Morgan,” Dezi said.
Morgan tilted his head to the side, baring his neck. “Anytime, Alpha.”
“I got the rest. I’m just going to clean up,” Logan said.
“Are you sure?”
Logan nodded. “This is a lot even if it’s not you pushing out the baby.”
It was, but Morgan didn’t want to abandon Logan with all the work.
“Go—I’m sure our beta is waiting for you.”
At the mention of Kenny, Morgan excused himself.
Morgan fell into Kenny’s arms instantly after leaving the infirmary, his words muffled against Kenny’s chest.
“Huh?”
Morgan turned his head. “Kash is amazing, and Rainar and Ramsey are just so tiny. I felt so afraid of holding them in my arms.”
Morgan had the biggest grin on his face. Kenny picked his exhausted mate up, then headed down the hall and toward the stairs.
Ava’s door opened, and she stuck her head out. It was well past eleven, but Kenny understood why she couldn’t sleep with all the excitement in the air.
“Is everything okay?” Ava asked.
“Yes, the twins are here. I’m sure we will get to see them first thing in the morning,” Kenny answered.
Ava smiled, but as her eyes landed
