we got home from the zoo, Luna was out cold, and End suggested we let her sleep at my parents’ place. Apparently one night wasn’t enough. He needed more, and so did I. After three orgasms, I’ve been lying here, wrapped in his arms, trying to soak it all in.
I try to stay here in this perfect moment with him, but my mind begins to wander. The worries slowly flood in, making me wonder if this is all just a fluke. It doesn’t feel like one, but we have a daughter now. We can’t make these reckless decisions anymore. He must sense where my thoughts are heading because he presses a kiss to my temple and breathes out a sigh.
“Tell me what you’re thinking.”
I nibble on my bottom lip, wondering if I should settle on the truth. “I was thinking last night and today were amazing, but…but what are we doing? What happens now?” I shift on the bed, tilting my body, so I can face him. He does the same, craning his neck, so he can look down at me.
In this new position, I feel something trickle out of me and drip between my legs, remnants of what just transpired between us. It hits me then. My eyes widen. I sit upright, glancing down at the bed, then back to Endymion. His eyes are heated, darker than they were only moments ago, as he stares down between my legs.
My heart kickstarts, racing in my chest, and I swallow thickly. “I’m not on birth control, Endymion.”
Slowly, he glances up at me and quirks a brow. “And?”
My lips press together in disapproval. “And? And this is exactly how I got pregnant with Luna in the first place. Because we didn’t use protection.”
Jesus, why does sex with this man always turn my brain into mush when it comes to protection?
He grinds his teeth together, causing the muscles along his jaw to jump with frustration. “I take it this is a problem for you?”
My eyes slam shut. A spark of anger flicks to life in my chest at how obtuse and nonchalant he’s being.
“We can’t do that, End.” I sigh. “We have to be responsible and think about Luna.”
He grunts. “I am thinking about Luna. She told me she wants a sister or a brother. She told me she wants to be a real family, and I want to give it to her.”
My chest squeezes. “You can’t give a child these things if you’re not even sure you want them. It isn’t fair.”
His brows tug low, anger passing over his features. “Who said I wasn’t sure I wanted them? I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life. Yeah, we have plenty of things to figure out as a family, but I want you. I want you and Luna. Not just because it’ll make her happy but because it’ll also make me happy.”
I’m stunned into silence by his words. I wasn’t expecting that. I mean, I knew Luna wanted a bigger family, but that was always a topic I avoided broaching, but now, it may be unavoidable. Everything he’s saying sounds so perfect and easy, but can it really be that simple? Can we just live happily ever after, especially after everything that has happened?
“I don’t know how to do this, Endymion. And the last thing I want is Luna hurt in all of this.”
A protective gleam enters his eyes. “We’ll figure it out together. And she won’t get hurt. Neither will you. I won’t allow it.”
“How can you be so sure?”
“Because I’d protect you both with my life. I’m all in with you, Selene. Mess and all, I want you.” He reaches out, caressing my bottom lip with the pad of his thumb. “Move in with me.”
I stiffen, my eyes growing wide at the suggestion. “What?”
His lips quirk. “I said move in with me.”
“I know what you said. I’m just trying to make sense of it. I can’t just move in with you.”
“Why not? Would it really be such a bad thing?”
I sputter. “Moving in? Having another baby? Yeah, it might. I don’t even know how Luna feels about all of this. About us. Kids say one thing one moment but change their minds the next.”
His face pinches in a scowl. “She wants us to be a family. I want this family with you. What’s the problem?”
“The problem is, you hated me just a few days ago, and now you’re suddenly trying to impregnate me and get me to move in
