even more. “Yes.”
I throw my head back as his hot seed fills me. He kisses between my breasts and finally releases the hold he has on my hair. My mind reels as I come down from the best high of my life.
“You know… I could end up… that might have been stupid,” I mutter.
“I have no regrets. Blacks play for keeps. Whatever happens from this moment, I’m conscious that I want it all. All of you and all of what we are to each other. It’s my job to care for you. Let me.”
I say nothing to those words. Not because I have nothing to say, but because I want to wrap myself in them. I want to be cared for.
Chapter 55
I Love You
John
Ireland for Noah’s wedding…
I stumble into the house. It’s time for me to call it quits if I’m getting up for this wedding tomorrow. My brothers and cousins are still at it, but my mind is elsewhere.
“Hey, John,” my cousin Connie says as she walks toward me.
I lean in and kiss her cheek when she stops in from of me. “Hey Con.”
She giggles and purses her lips. “I see ya boys have been hitting the black stuff.”
“Aye, a wee bit. The Guinness is always better here. You seen Roni?”
“This is true.” She laughs and tosses a thumb over her shoulder. “She’s in the theater with Shauna and yer mum and da.”
I nod and tug her into a hug, kissing the top of her head. “I love you, Con. We have to see each other more.”
She pats my cheek. “Go find your bird. Let her put you to sleep,” she says.
“How do you know she’s my girl?”
Connie’s face lights up. “It’s in the way ya guard her with yer body, as if ya can shield her from the world. And the way the two of ya look at each other. She’s in love with ya, ya know this right?”
I grin like an idiot. “You never know with Roni. She shows her emotions when she wants to.”
“Don’t be a stook. Anyone can see it. She’s a tough one, but she’s soft for you.”
I hug her again. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Mmm,” she says with a smile. “See ya bright and early, I will.”
I stumble around Connie a bit and her laugh reaches me as she walks away. The theater room is down the stairs, but it might as well be in New York for all the effort I have to put in to get there. I make my way inside as my mother and father are on their way out with a Shauna on my father’s shoulder.
I bend and kiss my mom on the cheek. “Yer fluthered,” my mother says.
“Nah, I’m not that drunk,” I say and try to straighten up.
Mom laughs. “The boy is totally langered. Where are the rest of the eejits? Ye’ll all be useless in the morning.”
“I plead the fifth.”
Dad laughs low. “Come on, Cass, leave the lad be. Let’s get this one into bed and call it a night so we’re not useless in the morning.”
“Fine.”
I watch my parents go before I turn to head down the rows in search of Roni. I find her three rows from the top, slouched down in one of the large loungers. A quick glance around and I see we’re here alone.
Tugging my lip into my mouth, I can’t help thinking about popping the button on her jeans and bending her over the seats in front of us. However, lacking the coordination for that, I more so flop down beside her and fall onto my back in her lap. She doesn’t even pull her eyes from the screen as she reaches to start combing a hand through my hair.
The gesture is so soothing, I close my eyes and bask in the feeling. It takes a moment for the sound from the movie to break through my drunken fog. When the music registers, I snort.
“Really? Grease?” I slur.
“Don’t make me dump your drunk ass on the floor. This is a classic and you will respect it.”
I smile and look at her pretty face. “Does my mother know you feel this way?”
“Maybe. I find I have a lot in common with the little lady,” she says with a teasing grin.
“I think that’s why she likes you.”
I close my eyes again and take in the moment. I’m fucking shitfaced. It wasn’t my intention to get this drunk.
And damn, I’m horny as fuck. I shift my head to nuzzle her belly. “You smell
