his head. “Crazy,” he muttered.
“Yes,” Matt agreed, but decided to not be too goofy and dropped that line of thought. “So….” He sighed. “Which house?”
Adam frowned, and Matt’s heart skipped a beat. Don’t change your mind. Don’t change your mind.
“Well, I think my room is a bit bigger.”
Matt let out a breath of relief.
“You thought I was changing my mind,” Adam said, blinking at Matt.
“You know, that’s scary, how well you know me,” Matt grumbled.
“It’s a good thing,” Adam said, shaking his head. “But… I can understand why, even if I don’t like it.”
Matt kissed Adam’s nose. “I’ll get over it.” He glanced around Adam’s room. “Yeah, I think yours is bigger. Might need to move a few things around. I need a place for my computer.”
Adam nodded. “Yeah. I think Dad’s got a desk he’s not using that might work and take up less space than both of ours.”
“That’s a good idea.” Matt swallowed as the reality sank in that they really were going to be living together. “Do you have enough room in your closet?”
“I can make it. We’ll need your chest of drawers.” Adam looked at Matt and swallowed. “I… I do want to be with you.”
Matt brushed his thumb over Adam’s cheek. “I’m really happy to hear that. Hey… is your nausea okay?”
Adam’s eyes unfocused for a few seconds, but then he nodded. “For now. That won’t last, but the sex didn’t make it worse.”
Matt nodded. “That’s what I was worried about.”
“I know.” Adam smiled at him. “I’m sorry.”
Matt shook his head. “You said it. I get it, now that I understand why. Let’s let it go, okay? Move forward from here.”
Adam nodded. “Okay, yeah.” He closed the small distance and kissed Matt softly. Matt returned it, but before he could get too involved, Adam broke the kiss. They tempted fate once already with sex. They didn’t need to risk really making Adam sick.
“So…. Let’s go get some of my clothes?”
Adam smiled. “Anxious?”
“Hell yes.”
That made Adam hesitate, and Matt was pretty sure Adam was thinking again about why Matt was anxious. Matt didn’t say anything more, though, and a moment later, Adam let out a breath.
“All right, then. Let’s get your stuff.”
Matt paused as something occurred to him. “Do… we need to talk to your parents?”
Adam shook his head, grinning. This was something he didn’t have to worry about. “No. They’ve been asking me when I’d get you over here.”
That brought a smile to Matt’s face. He’d known Adam’s parents liked him, but hearing that confirmation eased a small worry Matt hadn’t realized he’d had. “Well, then. Let’s see. Clothes, computer…”
Matt turned in his chair to watch Adam sleep. He’d started getting tired the last few days and was resting a lot more. He’d assured Matt it was just part of pregnancy, that his body was using a lot of energy to grow the baby, and as such, he only needed more rest. Matt was happy the nausea seemed to be easing a bit. He wasn’t sure if it was the medication or that it was actually getting better, but it didn’t really matter. He was just glad Adam could eat something other than toast, saltine crackers, and ginger cookies.
He still hadn’t figured out what to do about proving to Adam he was serious about them staying together. They’d only been living together a little over a week, so Matt knew he needed to be patient. A huge portion of easing Adam’s fears was simply going to be time.
There had to be something more he could do, though. But he hadn’t been able to come up with anything.
He crossed the room and perched lightly on the bed next to Adam. Brushing the blond hair back, he bent and left a soft kiss on one temple. Adam stirred a little, but settled right back down, and Matt stood, then pulled a blanket over him. With one more look, he went downstairs.
The coffeepot was full, and as he poured a cup, Adam’s dad, Craig, came in. “How’s Adam?”
Matt smiled. “Sleeping. Apparently the baby is now stealing all his energy.”
Craig laughed. “They’re good at that from what I understand.”
“He said it doesn’t last too long.”
“No. Laurel said it gets a lot better in the second trimester.”
Matt nodded. “Good. He’s only got a few more weeks left until then.”
“How are you?” Craig asked, tilting his head.
“Happy.” Matt frowned and considered Adam’s dad for a moment. Maybe he’d have some ideas. “Do you have a moment?”
“Of course.” Craig waved at the
