ramrod straight with a horrified look on her face.
I almost feel sorry for her, but my guess is she overstepped her boundaries with Nikon, and Alisha isn’t his subordinate—but co-worker or possibly boss.
Duly noted.
CHAPTER FOUR
- Nikon
Thankfully, Alisha’s request to get a new escort is heeded by Aron, our contact at the local police station. Julia was too much. Too nosy … too aggressive, and too interested in sexual intercourse with me.
As per my discussion with Alisha yesterday evening after speaking with Payak, she followed through with Aron for a new escort. Julie had been picking us up and returning us to our hotel in the evening. Aron didn’t discuss that part of the job duty with Lilibeth. In fact, if I had to guess, this Earth woman doesn’t appear to like her superior Aron.
On the short ride to Mannvit, no one speaks. Lilibeth, our new escort, is beautiful with long, fine blonde hair she wears pulled into a braid down her back. I’m too tongue-tied and uncomfortable in her small vehicle to question her or brief her on what we’re doing, but something seems off with her. Maybe she feels she’s being assigned to us as a punishment by Aron? But I get the impression he hasn’t taken our investigation very seriously, so maybe she won’t, either.
The Wen virus exposure has been totally absent from the news. No one knows about it. The survivors who were exposed and transitioned are as good as dead in my opinion. After the initial exposure to the virus, the victims become sick and fall into a coma-type sleep. When they wake, we call them transitioned.
They lose all sense of their humanity. Once transitioned, they no longer recognize anyone they knew before, and they’re consumed by hunger. It’s a hunger that drives them to do unthinkable things. The transitioned from the Mosfellsbær Golf Club incident were taken back to a secure holding facility in the area. From what I understand, the Ashen are putting together a joint force of doctors from both North America and Iceland to coordinate their efforts. In fact, Payak believes they intend to try and heal them.
What’s ironic is the Humans aren’t even aware of the Ashen or Taxin aliens. The Taxin live on Earth, running the majority of their governments, military, and any other official offices you can think of. So, the Taxin are running things on a planet level while the Ashen are helping since they answer to the Coalition on protecting this zone of the Universe.
The three of us are silent as Lilibeth parks, and we exit the vehicle together. I watch Lilibeth walk ahead of us. Her confidence is intoxicating as her long, blond braid swings behind her, brushing the top of her ass. She’s one of the tallest females I’ve seen on Earth so far. The top of her head almost hits my chin, making her the perfect height for me.
What am I thinking? Since when have I started thinking of females as mine? Looking at Alisha, I see she’s glancing around, assessing our surroundings like I should be doing. But I can’t seem to take my eyes off Lilibeth’s ass. The flexing muscles twitching up and down seem to call to me, lulling me into losing perspective of where we even are.
When Lilibeth pulls the door open, stepping to the side to hold it wide, I realize I’ve messed up. Don’t the men here on Earth hold the doors open for the women? It’s part of the courting rituals I overheard Payak telling Desin about. I’m still shocked to find out he and Desin have both mated in the short time since I left. I know Payak planned to “date” Teresa in the human way–even though he was fairly confident she could see him in his dimension and was mating compatible with him.
“Let me,” I offer smoothly, pressing my larger body against hers and holding the door open from a higher vantage point so she can go inside. The shock of awareness that floods my body at that innocuous touch has my cock hardening … again.
Lilibeth makes me feel … alive and aroused. For the first time, I’ve noticed how beautiful our surroundings are. Today, the bright sun that circles Earth is unobstructed by clouds, bathing the world around us in its warmth. As Lilibeth scowls, stepping away and into the large office building quickly, I realize how brightly blue her eyes are. They’re almost as light as mine.
After Alisha passes, we catch up to
