you too, sis. I’ll see you soon.”
I sighed as I hung up the phone. I did not want to go home and run interference for Rose and Sam, but she was my sister, and I’d always done everything I could to protect and help her. I’d have to think of a plan for my trip back home, but that could wait until later. I had more scintillating things to think about. Like what was going to happen tonight. I was looking forward to spending the evening with Jane, to getting to know her better.
I was hoping that tonight would be the night I’d be able to finally get it in.
Chapter 12
Jane
“We are going to get so lit tonight!” Millie squealed as we walked down the street towards the nightclub. We were all slightly buzzed and excited to start dancing after our pregaming at Jagger’s apartment and pizza at a cool Italian place in the Mission.
“I sure hope so.” Olivia didn’t look convinced. “It’s nine p.m., girls. Who the hell goes to the club at nine?” Her expression was so worried that we all laughed.
I was having a good night so far, but I was super conscious of the fact that Tate and Jagger were walking behind us. I’d had no time to really talk to Tate, but we’d been making eyes at each other all night and he was looking hotter than I’d ever seen him. He’d tried to corner me at Jagger’s apartment, but thankfully Millie had called me over for shots and I’d been able to escape his clutches and hurry away. He’d looked disappointed but I hadn’t known what to say.
Our experience in the steam room had been so intense, and it was still on my mind. I mean, he’d had his fingers inside of me and touched me so intimately … and yet we hadn’t even kissed on the lips. I was still feeling hot and bothered when I’d gotten home, and then he’d called me and turned me on even more. That call had been next-level hot. I was pretty sure he’d been pleasuring himself and I’d done the same. My orgasm had been the most intense that I’d ever experienced. Granted, I’d never had sex, and I hoped the real thing would be better than my fantasies, but even as a fantasy Tate was a pretty amazing lover. I just wasn’t sure that I was ready to make him a real one. There was no doubt about his attractiveness, but his personality still irked me. There were times when we talked that I felt like maybe he was a good guy, times when he seemed a little bit kinder, a little bit deeper, the sort of man I might really want to get to know—but then he would say something crude, and I’d forget all about his better qualities.
It made me sad that all he seemed to think about around me was sex, except when we were at work, where he was more focused on riding me in a different way. It wasn’t that I was unrealistic about how men thought. I had a brother. A brother who was maybe an even bigger player than Tate. I could still remember all the girls who called for Marco when I was younger, each one thinking they were his girlfriend, and him just laughing about it. No doubt about it, my brother was also a pig when it came to women, but that was why I knew I didn’t want to be with a man like that, no matter how much they turned me on.
“So you and Tate seem to be getting on tonight.” Magnolia glanced at me as we walked down the sidewalk. “No sparring yet.”
“The night is still young.” I laughed. “Things still have time to go south.”
“What happened at the gym?” Millie asked loudly. She didn’t seem to have gotten the memo that she needed to be more subtle.
“I’ll tell you guys later. All I can say right now is that it was intense.” I wiggled my eyebrows at them. “In more ways than one.”
“Oh, no way!” Birdy spoke up now.” Did you guys have sex?”
“No.” I shook my head but I knew my face was as red as the sexy crimson dress I was wearing.
“But you did something!” Millie was excited. “Oh, shit, did you give Tate a BJ?”
“No, I didn’t.”
“Shit, did he go down on you?” Millie persisted. “That’s hot if he did.”
“That didn’t happen.” I shook my head and giggled.
