and the water rushes below us. Bear is preoccupied with disrupting all the wildlife, and I love every moment of it.
“Days like this make me appreciate how lucky we are to be alive,” I say.
“Yeah, it’s really nice, but I’m pretty sure I’m what saved you, not luck. Literally, I saved your ass every time, remember?”
I raise an eyebrow. “I remember.”
“Every time,” he teases.
“Yes, you did. I apologize for thanking luck for it.”
He grins at me as he lets go of my hand to wrap his arm around me. I set my head on his shoulder.
“I guess you’re right. I’m pretty damn lucky to end up right here, next to you,” he says.
I honestly couldn’t think of anything better. I once thought I had no luck, but it’s now clear that my luck just hadn’t arrived yet.
I look over at Shepherd and smile at him.
“I never knew my luck would be wound around a man who kidnapped me and shoved me in the trunk,” I joke.
“I even slapped that tape over your mouth.”
“I hope no one is ever listening in on our conversations.”
Shepherd starts laughing. “Don’t forget about me dragging you through the forest. That was my favorite part.”
And while I’m not sure that was my favorite part, it was the first day I met him, so I guess it wasn’t half bad.
“Let’s get going, I want to watch the sunset,” I say.
“Sounds perfect.”
It does but only because of who is by my side.
And I feel pretty damn lucky.

Acknowledgments
As always, I have a wonderful group of people who work so hard to make sure my book shines as well as it can!
The first person who I need to thank is Courtney, who is always there for me every step of the way. She does wonderful beta work and an amazing job with her editing. She’s also always there to help me with my random plot ideas and keep me heading in the right direction. I honestly couldn’t have gotten this far without her support!
I also need to thank my parents who have always been supportive of my writing. My mom has gone out of her way to help me whenever I needed it on my journey of being an author, and I really appreciate that. I don’t think there’s a book I’ve written that she hasn’t read!
Thank you to Savannah for helping me with the beta and being such a wonderful and supportive friend. I love that you’re always there for me when I need you and I can always toss my random ideas at you that you’re almost always supportive of (and it’s very clear why when you’re not).
I want to thank Meredith for beta reading and just being an amazing friend (even if she likes to torture me a little on Facebook).
Thank you to Kat, Sam, and Claudia for your work with the beta. You guys always do such fantastic work that I love being able to rely on all of you. Each of you are always there for me when I need you!
Thank you to Lori who did the proofreading. I always know I can rely on you to do the finishing touches! And thank you for your support!
Thank you to Cate who always works extremely hard on getting my covers and promos done for me!
And lastly, thank you to Leslie who has helped keep me on track with all the other little things. If it wasn’t for her, everything that doesn’t revolve around writing probably wouldn’t get done for at least a month. Maybe more.
I could never express how much these people and all the others do for me. Writing a book takes so much more than just the author. So a huge thank you to everyone who helped me along the way. And thank you, readers, for taking the time to pick up this book. I really appreciate it!
