he’d explicitly told me anything, but when he’d texted both Jamie and me, it was the middle of the night and there was no way he’d be up that late unless he was with her.
guys. mind if I invite senna out on the boat Sunday?
It was fine with me. In fact, more than fine. And I knew Jamie would feel the same way.
And now here we were, at the marina with two coolers and Senna in tow, looking fucking adorable with a scarf tied over her hair and in her cut offs and Converse low tops.
Damn. Not a stitch of makeup on her face and she was even more gorgeous than the first time I met her dancing her heart out at Club V.
On the narrow walkway between boats, Senna stopped dead in her tracks when I pointed out Jamie’s boat. Or, should I say, yacht. I was not good with boating vocabulary.
“What the…?” she cried. “This is your boat, Jamie?”
I kind of missed her calling us ‘professor.’ Something about it was so damn naughty.
Jamie caught up to us and slung an arm around her shoulder. I had to admit, they looked good together.
“It sure as hell is mine,” he said, smiling at his pride and joy, which he’d geekily named ‘School’s Out.’
That was a professor for you.
Senna’s feet were glued in place. “Um, how… how did you get a boat like this? You’re a university professor. Did you rob a bank?” She looked at him suspiciously.
Yeah, she had a lot to learn about Jamie.
“C’mon,” he said, pulling her by the hand. “I’ll tell you everything.”
I couldn’t deny I felt a little pang of something I couldn’t put into words when I saw Jamie so at ease with Senna, taking her by the hand and laughing as they headed toward the boat.
While I was down with, on a intellectual level, with the concept of sharing a woman, I knew I had some soul-searching to do to see if this was the right kind of arrangement for me.
Shit, we didn’t even know if Senna was really down with it, truth be told.
Everything was up in the air—a status I’ve never been comfortable with. I liked to know what was coming at me, at least to the best extent I could. I didn’t leave much to chance. But I was going to roll with things as best I could.
At least Jamie and Chase were chill about it all.
I got on the boat and stored my things in the same cupboard I used every time we went out on School’s Out. Chase followed me into the cabin, dropping his stuff next to the captain’s chair, where he planted himself.
He grabbed the steering wheel like a little kid in Dad’s car. “Dude, I am so ready for this. A little sun, some fresh air, salt water. Just what the doctor ordered.”
I wish I could be as easy going as he was. But I guess when you’ve spent years in the Peace Corps, you learn to be pretty damn adaptable.
He reached for Senna’s waist and pulled her to him, kissing her while running a hand over her shorts and grabbing a fistful of her ass. When she dropped her head back and giggled, he ran his lips over her neck.
I had to say, in spite of my misgivings—if that’s what you could call them—it was hot as shit to see how they reacted to each other. I just hoped she’d have some left for me.
“Hey, out of my seat,” Jamie said, elbowing Chase out of the captain’s chair.
Chase jumped out of the way, leading Senna to the front of the boat. “You have to let me drive later, then,” he called over his shoulder.
Jamie looked at me and rolled his eyes. “Like he could maneuver out of the marina. That guy’s hilarious.”
I stood next to Jamie as he got the boat out of its small slip and then traveled past all the other yachts to get to the open ocean. “It always amazes me how good you are at this.”
He laughed. “I have to be. You know how much this boat cost? She’s my baby,” he said, patting the dashboard. “I’d never let anything happen to her.”
We hugged the coast for a while, with Senna and Chase canoodling on the front of the boat. I was watching them with one eye and trying to learn some of the boat’s controls with the other.
“See,” Jamie said, “if you learn how to pilot the boat, you can
