hovered over her, grinning in a way that made her flesh crawl.
“How do you feel, little wolf?”
“Why do you care?” she spat, pressing against the cold concrete of her cell. She kept a wary eye on the creep. Her wrists and ankles were still chained, restricting movement. If she could shake loose the amethyst imbedded in her skin, she could shift and escape her bonds.
“Balban has gone to your mates. She is a very sexual creature.” His predatory gaze roamed the length of her body. “I’m sure she’ll seduce them before completing her mission.”
He was trying to piss her off. She turned up her chin. “My mates aren’t fools.”
“They must be to let their sweet little virgin out of their sight.” He stroked her cheek with callused knuckles. “Your innocence has captivated me.” He sniffed his fingers. “I won’t be able to rest until I have taken you. I hope Balban doesn’t seduce your mates with your virgin body. What a delight it will be to rip through your maidenhead.” He purred against her skin, digging into her ear. Was this an act of foreplay? Cleaning out her earwax?
Repulsed by his touch and demon odor, she flinched. “Don’t touch me.”
He pulled back, closed his eyes, and sucked his fingers, groaning. Gross. “Mm,” he groaned, his eyes rolling into the back of his head. “You taste as delicious as you smell. Your virginal barrier would’ve made a fine feast, but this body will do until you get yours back.”
She shrank back, disgusted.
“What was your dream about?” he asked.
“None of your fucking business!” she raged, wishing he hadn’t shot her with an amethyst, so she could access her wolf and rip out his throat.
He struck her so hard, her cheek smacked the concrete wall and blinding pain shot up her jaw. Her ear rang, muffling the sounds of Katarina’s screams. She cringed when he unbuttoned her shirt.
“What are you doing, Sitri?” Katarina cried. Her gag had fallen down around her chin.
“What does it look like?” He squeezed Tatiana’s breast so hard, she yelped. “I’m seducing the sweet innocent.”
Her struggle against him was futile, and he raked his teeth down her neck.
“My sons will kill you!” Katarina screeched.
“They will try,” he chuckled, reaching around her to unsnap her bra, “but I will fill them full of amethysts and lead.”
“You son of a bitch!” Katarina’s chains clanked as she banged her bed against the wall.
“Jealousy doesn’t suit you, Katarina.” His predatory gaze settled on Tatiana’s breasts while he unzipped his pants. “How would you like to watch while I rape your daughter-in-law?”
Katarina let out a wail. “I’ll slit your throat and send you back to hell.”
Sitri jumped to his feet and replaced the gag around Katarina’s mouth, slapping her hard and then laughing when her eyes rolled back.
Tatiana’s heart pounded with fear. Sitri was going to rape her, and she had no way to defend herself. If her mates didn’t want her before, they definitely wouldn’t want her after she’d been tainted by a demon. Forget what he’d do to her new body, a body she feared she could possibly be stuck with forever if that demon Balban destroyed her original body. What would mating with the demon do to her soul? Would she be bonded to Sitri? The thought was too horrifying to comprehend. She let out a strangled sob when he returned to her, pants gaping open. The thought of this demon raping her, of her mates rejecting her, was more than she could bear.
MAGIC BURNED EILEA’S palms when she and Balban walked into a room with the single cell, two armed human guards at her heels. Why were humans working for these demons? She guessed they must either be motivated by money or fear. A fair-skinned blonde bound to a bed screamed into a gag and rattled her chains. A fat, bald man fondled the breasts of a pale young woman with dark hair.
What in Ancient’s name was going on?
Balban, in Tatiana’s body, cleared her throat. “Master, I have brought the witch.”
The demon Eilea assumed to be Sitri turned, zipped up his pants, and snarled at Tatiana, who Eilea had to remind herself was the demon Balban in her friend’s body. “So you have. Did the wolves follow you?”
“No, Master,” Balban said, her voice a sibilant hiss. “She put them all to sleep.”
He leered at Eilea. “Why would you do that?”
“I care about Tatiana’s safety.”
“Don’t trust them, Eilea!” the dark-haired girl said.
How did this girl know her? A thought occurred to
