said, I probably shouldn’t.
“Look.” Corbin points to the screen. He sits in the desk chair looking at the screen, while I stand behind him, looking over his shoulder at the dot that just appeared.
“He’s here,” I say, my breath catching.
“He is. You sure about this?”
“Yes, will you stop asking me that? This is the only way to protect him.”
“If you say so.”
I roll my eyes, snatch the laptop, and bring it to the bed where I can watch Langston’s every move. The dot spends several minutes at the airport before it starts moving again.
Come find me. Come find me, killer.
“Is he moving toward us?”
I stare at the screen as the dot moves.
“Yes.”
“Good, I don’t want to sleep on the floor.”
“You’re such a baby.”
“And you are a twisted, dark soul.”
We both stare at each other. I suspect there is something we aren’t telling the other, but that will have to wait. I have a husband to deal with.
Husband—I still can’t believe I married him. It was the best and worst decision of my life. But if I die being married to Langston, it will have been worth it.
“He’s here,” I say, not believing he found us that fast. “Did you tell Maxwell where we are?”
“No, I should have, though. Your boy’s good.”
“Now what?” I ask.
“Don’t ‘now what’ me, this is your plan.”
I close the laptop and jump up off the bed to go listen at the door. A few minutes later, I see Langston pacing outside my door. He doesn’t enter. He doesn’t say anything. Then, he presses a hand to the door, and I know he’s decided not to come in. He’s going to just watch and wait, then follow us to the next location.
“Fuck,” I whisper.
“What?” Corbin whispers back.
“He’s not going to come in,” I whisper.
“Oh, yes, he is.”
Corbin marches toward me. He swoops me in his arms and lands a kiss on my lips.
“Corbin! Get off me!” I scream between kisses. “Stop, Corbin!”
The door pops open, and Langston stands there with a gun in his hand.
“Shit,” Corbin says under his breath as he uses me like a shield.
I roll my eyes and pop him hard in the nose, knocking Corbin unconscious with a thud as he falls to the floor. Corbin and I had planned on him faking his unconsciousness, but I’m pretty sure I just knocked him out for real. It serves him right for kissing me instead of just letting me fake it.
Langston takes me in his arms like I’m a fragile piece of glass he’s afraid he’s going to break.
“Are you okay? Did he hurt you?” His eyes search up and down my body as his fingers caress my cheek, looking for clues that Corbin hurt me.
“I’m fine.” I tremble in his arms all the same. Feeling Langston’s hands on me again drives me wild with hunger and need. It doesn’t matter that every second we are in Moscow, so close to my father, we are in imminent danger. My body craves Langston.
Langston’s lips crash down on mine, devouring me in stark contrast to how gentle his hands are still holding me. Clearly, he feels the same way. Luckily, I can use both of our weaknesses to my advantage.
“I missed you,” I say, grabbing his neck and tilting his head to deepen the kiss.
“If you wouldn’t have sent me away, you wouldn’t have had to miss me at all.”
“If I didn’t, you’d be dead.”
I bite the bottom of his lip, drawing blood.
He pulls back.
Our eyes snap to the other’s, daring each other.
Langston whistles, and Maxwell enters.
“Remove Corbin,” Langston says to Maxwell.
Maxwell nods and then scoops Corbin up under his arms. “I’ll have him in the room next door. Let me know if you need me.”
I’m silent as Maxwell removes Corbin from the hotel room. I don’t know if Corbin is conscious enough to take on Maxwell, but I hope he is. I don’t have a plan for seducing Maxwell.
The door shuts, and I turn to Langston, glaring at him. “So you can trust Maxwell, but I can’t trust Corbin?”
He frowns. “Maxwell is on our side.”
“So is Corbin.”
“He was trying to rape you. If I hadn’t come, he would have.”
“No, I had the situation under control. I knocked him unconscious. Corbin and I have a deal. When he awakes, he’ll realize his mistake. You should go.”
“Go?” Langston cocks his head at me like he can’t believe his ears as I stomp toward the door.
“Yes, it’s not safe for you here. You shouldn’t have come.”
Langston walks toward
