asks, “But the bruising will fade on your ribs.”
I shake my head and press my face into his neck. “The bite mark.”
Jase is quiet for a moment, and it makes my whole body tense. I startle when he turns me to face him, and keeping my eyes on his chest, I straddle him.
“Look at me.” His voice is soft as his hands settle on my sides.
I lift my eyes to his, and when I see the caring expression on his face, it makes the lump return to my throat.
“You trust me, right?” he asks.
“Yeah,” I breathe.
He leans closer, and then his breath skims over my jaw and flutters on my ear. “Remember when we were dancing?”
How can I forget?
I nod and lift my hands to his chest. Nerves tighten my stomach when his mouth drifts over my skin, and then he pauses an inch away from mine, “Remember how it felt when I touched you?”
My hands fist his shirt. “Yes.”
Jase’s hand lifts to my face, and his thumb brushes over my bottom lip.
God.
When he does it again, my lips part, and my tongue darts out.
“Still fucking kills me, babe.” His voice is low and hoarse, and then his mouth is on mine.
‘Wait,’ my mind groans.
‘No,’ my heart growls. ‘I need this. I want this.’
I know I will regret it later, but right now, I don’t care.
My hands move to the back of Jase’s neck, and my fingers get lost in his hair as I open my mouth, begging him to come inside. The moment his tongue touches mine, my heart rockets into the sky and explodes like the fourth of July. Tingles rush over my skin, waking parts of me I never knew existed.
And then nothing else exists.
Only Jase.
A moan drifts up my throat from how extraordinarily intense it feels kissing him.
His hand slips behind my neck, and his other moves to my back, and then he pulls me flush with his chest. His tongue strokes mine, and it sweeps me away until it feels like I’m flying and free-falling all at once.
My breaths speed up, and I can’t get enough of Jase.
But then he slows the kiss down, and leaving my mouth wanting more, he feathers kisses down my neck.
“I’m addicted to the taste of you,” Jase murmurs against my racing pulse, and it makes goosebumps explode over my body.
He moves his hands back to my sides, and when he grips hold of the shirt, I pull back and grab hold of his wrists.
His eyes find mine. “Trust me, Mila.”
God, this is hard. I don’t want him seeing the bite mark.
Shame douses the fire Jase has ignited in me.
Jase presses a soft kiss to my lips and pulling back, his gaze locks with mine again, and I know he’s waiting for permission.
“I can’t,” I whisper. “I don’t want you looking at me like I’m… damaged.”
His eyes fill with a look I haven’t seen before, and it makes them turn to liquid gold. “That will never happen, Mila. Trust me.”
Trust Jase.
I nod, and when he starts to lift the fabric, I shut my eyes, not wanting to see his reaction.
Jase stops, and his voice is soft. “Look at me, babe.”
I suck in a couple of breaths and pry them open.
Jase keeps his gaze on mine as he lifts the shirt over my head.
Apprehension fills me as I watch his eyes lower to my breasts. But then something happens, I never in a million years expected. Jase places his hand on my ribs, and his thumb brushes against the swell of my breast.
His eyes come back to mine, and then he growls, “You’re so fucking beautiful, Mila.”
My heart is nothing but a frantic flutter in my chest as he leans in and presses a kiss to my breast.
And then he lifts his head. “Look at me, touching you.”
His thumb brushes over my nipple, and I’m torn between how good it feels and doing what Jase asked of me.
I lower my eyes to his neck, then his chest, then his arm. I slowly follow the map of veins on his golden-tanned skin until his hand comes into view.
And then Jase’s thumb traces the outline of the light mark.
In my mind, it looked so different. So stark.
But it’s already fading.
My eyes dart back to Jase’s face, and when I see him smiling, I throw caution to the wind and grabbing hold of his face, I lift myself a little higher and slam my mouth against his.
And then I kiss him with every ounce
