want to randomly express all the intense emotions I was feeling towards her, so instead, I stayed silent and just kept her pulled against me. Alright, I may have tucked her slightly behind me too, not liking another male around her without one of our mating marks on her pretty neck.
She made a small frustrated sound as Dylan chuckled softly.
“Yes, Ari?” I inhaled, feeling frustrated with the young man.
All right, he wasn’t that young, around my sister’s age actually, but sometimes I wanted to hit him over the head for his persistence on things. Now, it was possible I was biased since his persistence had to do with my baby sister. Unfortunately, because of my mate, I couldn’t shift right now and kill his frustrating ass, so I was left with just being annoyed. Although, I had to at least respect his dedication to this shit.
“Can you please give your sister something for me?” he asked as Colette let out a small laugh drawing his attention. “Who is this?”
“None of your business,” I growled as Colette poked my side, making me grin at her cute little nose twitch and scowl. “Fine. This is Colette. That’s all you need to know.”
“And she’s ours,” Dylan warned.
Ari’s brows went up as he took an actual step back, making me way happier as my wolf relaxed. He knew what my brother meant and I let Dylan worry about the confused look our mate was offering him. I had a feeling that if she didn’t know she was our mate before, it wouldn’t take long for her to figure it out.
“Wonderful to meet you,” he offered respectfully before looking back at me. “Please, Hunter? You know I wouldn’t ask if I wasn’t desperate here. All the guys have tried, I just need you to deliver this from us. We got caught on a call for another station down the mountain. You know I’d never miss a date with Lena let alone the rest of them since she was finally giving us a chance to have a serious talk. I’m fucking mental over her, but she won’t hear us out--”
Colette took the letter from him and folded it neatly, tucking it into my jacket pocket and cutting off Ari’s rambling. She nodded, offering me a small smile mixed with a ‘deal with it’ look before breaking away to walk ahead.
My wolf rumbled appreciatively at her direct attitude and well, the sight of her curvy little ass despite being covered in an oversized sweater. I sighed, shaking my head as Dylan jogged after. Yeah. It was possible I was already in love with the woman.
“Be glad my mate is more understanding than me,” I snapped out before looking at Ari. “I’ll give her the letter. That’s it.”
“Thank you!” he called out as I walked away to catch up to the other two.
I did, in a way, hope my sister figured out her drama, only because I knew it was a misunderstanding. Nothing to do with the lot of them not caring about one another. I wish it wasn’t my business but she was my baby sister and it seemed she and Colette got along. If Colette thought I should give her the note then I would.
Following Dylan, I watched as he pointed out the library as well as the empty building next door. Well, it wasn’t completely empty, but it was closed down. It had been a dance studio for the longest time until Ms. Miller, the elderly witch from down the street, passed away. No one had stepped up, so it had been left empty for about a year now. I watched curiously as Colette perked up, her eyes scanning the space as she walked closer with almost cautious and curious steps.
Pointing at the studio door with a slightly hopeful expression, I nodded at Colette’s unspoken question and took out the keys I had for most of the properties in the small village. While we had an official mayor, my pack had the most control over the commercial properties, therefore I had keys for emergency purposes. It also helped that Luca aided in negotiating purchases and loans for properties at the bank he helped run.
A glorious smile broke out on Colette’s face as she trailed the room. The entire space had worn dark wood floors, long mirrors facing the windows on the other side, and a dusty grand piano sitting in the corner. I mentally tracked the long hallway that led to most likely a bathroom
