against Dorian’s lips, then pulled back. Dorian’s face was flushed and his eyes gleamed with delight and humor. “Now I know why Khory and Aeron work in sex whenever they can. They’ve got a thirty-inch cock-block in the next room.”
Dorian chuckled, his hands resting lightly on Hyatt’s hips. “No doubt.”
Khory’s bedroom door opened, and he didn’t glance their way. Simply slipped into Asher’s room and, a moment later, the crying stopped. Khory didn’t emerge, though, not even after enough time for a diaper change had passed, so they must be playing with Asher’s overabundance of toys.
The intimate moment also seemed over for now, so Hyatt climbed off Dorian’s lap and sat close beside him. “Do you want to watch a movie and cuddle on the couch for a while?”
Dorian kissed his temple. “That sounds lovely. Do you mind if I use your bathroom first?”
“No, go ahead.” He pointed at the one Khory and Aeron used, because it still felt strange to take him into his bedroom to use the master. “In the mood for any particular genre of movie?”
“Pick something you like. I’m sure I’ll enjoy it.”
“Cool.”
Since it was late afternoon and most of the cable channels were either daytime programming or mid-movie, Hyatt browsed their collection of DVD’s. Most of them were Aeron’s, but Hyatt and Khory had both contributed a few. Hyatt’s room at Light House had come with a small TV/DVD player combo, so he’d picked up a few favorites over the years.
One was a film called In the Wilde, about an orphan omega being transported by car and freeway from one province to another for an arranged mating with a wealthy alpha. A tire blow-out sends the car careening off the freeway, killing the driver and injuring the omega. He’s out in the wilds, the lands surrounding the various provinces where the laws don’t stand and it was rumored wild men roamed. The omega is rescued by a wild alpha named (ironically) Wilde, and nursed back to health in his remote cabin. They fall in love. Then the wealthy alpha’s men find them and…well, the movie had a happy ending.
Hyatt chose that film, and he had it ready when Dorian joined him on the couch. He didn’t protest when Dorian hauled him onto his lap. Dorian was broad enough that Hyatt had plenty of room to snuggle against his chest and enjoy his favorite movie. A few minutes into it, Khory emerged with Asher, and the pair moved into the kitchen to get Asher a snack. Hyatt lost himself in the beautiful love story playing out on the television, and in the heat of Dorian’s embrace.
During the part where the rich alpha comes to reclaim his intended omega, Dorian’s body began to tense. Hyatt wasn’t sure what to make of it, and Dorian’s expression gave nothing away. Maybe he was upset on the omega character’s behalf, as he was forced away from the poor, wild alpha he’d fallen in love with. After the lovers found their happy ending and the credits rolled, Hyatt sat up straighter to study Dorian’s face. Still impassive, instead of relieved or happy for the couple.
Hyatt’s joy dimmed. “You didn’t like it?”
Dorian’s eyes flickered, his gaze fixed somewhere past Hyatt. “Did I like a movie where the wealthy alpha is portrayed as the villain?”
“The vill—oh shit.” He saw his mistake immediately. “No way, you are nothing like that guy. He basically bought a mate and then stole him away from the man he loved. That’s not you or us in any way. You and me are the happy couple at the end. The couple that overcomes adversity and fights to be together. That’s the message I love about this movie. It always gave me hope that, even if I never met a bondmate, I could at least find an alpha I could fall in love with.” He stroked trembling fingers down Dorian’s cheek, needing him to understand. “I found both of those things in you, my alpha.”
Dorian finally looked at him, his eyes so uncertain Hyatt wanted to cry. Instead, he leaned up and brushed his lips over Dorian’s. “You are in no way the villain here,” Hyatt whispered. “No matter what your parents did, you are the hero of our story.”
“Thank you.” Dorian released a long breath, then pressed his forehead to Hyatt’s. “I still doubt myself sometimes. That I’m truly good enough for you.”
“You are exactly who I’ve always wanted. Kind, thoughtful, generous, and patient. You don’t demand. You’ve never
