and she tightened her arms, opening her mouth, her body, and giving him everything that she had.
The muscles in his back bunched, tightened, and his breathing grew ragged. He pulled back just enough to look down at her. Every inch of his body covered hers as his thrusting grew faster. Harder. Deeper.
“Say it again,” he demanded.
“I love you,” she gasped brokenly. “I love you.”
His jaw tightened and she felt him swell inside her; grow even thicker as he kept up the relentless rhythm. The orgasm crashed into her and her entire body went rigid, her walls squeezing and milking his cock until a low groan emerged from the depths of his body.
“Fuck I love you,” he growled, his body tensing. He drove one hand under her ass and held her pressed flush against him, his cock buried as deep as it could go as he pulsed inside her.
He collapsed, holding her in his arms as he rolled to his side. They lay, tangled up in each other, their gasps for air mingling in the quiet. Ethan brushed her hair off her forehead and pressed soft kisses along her temple, her cheek, her lips.
She snuggled against his chest, the sound of his heart thumping in her ear.
This was where she wanted to be, in Ethan’s arms, now and forever.
Chapter 3
Ethan had a bacon and cheese omelet and three glazed donuts delivered because that’s what she needed more than air when she woke up ravenous a half hour ago. Sex with him worked had up an appetite and she needed her strength if they weren’t going to leave the apartment for the rest of the day.
It had taken all her persuasive skill to make him agree to her putting on a shirt. They compromised when he gave her one of his t-shirts, but it almost backfired when his eyes went dark and he stalked her through the apartment to the kitchen.
Something about how fucking hot it was to see her in his shirt.
But now he watched her eat with a grin on her face.
“That can’t taste good,” he laughed, watching her eat.
She’d shoved a mouthful of eggs into her mouth and chased it with a big bite of donut. It might as well have been peanut butter and jelly it went together so well.
“Don’t knock it till you try it.” She waved her fork at him then shoved another bite into her mouth. Before they could argue the merits of her breakfast, someone knocked on the door.
Ethan got up and a few seconds later, Harper heard a familiar voice.
Robert Wentworth stepped into the kitchen behind Ethan and she braced for anger at finding them together.
“Hello again,” Robert said. There was no animosity in Robert’s voice and his smile was relaxed when he met her gaze. A chuckle came from his chest as he looked at her plate. “Ethan’s mother swore by cheese Danishes covered in hot sauce.”
Ethan groaned. “Don’t get any ideas,” he said to her.
For a moment, she was frightened at what Ethan’s father might have come to tell them. But she knew that Ethan would take care of her, no matter what. A grin twisted her lips upward. “Hmmm...do you have any hot sauce?”
Robert laughed and sat down at the table across from her.
“What do you need, Dad?” Ethan asked, sitting at Harper’s side and resting his hand possessively on the back of her neck.
Robert looked at her. “You’re a hostile witness now.”
She set her fork down and nodded, her stomach clenching. Ethan caressed her neck and she leaned into his touch.
Ethan’s dad continued. “Did you know you’ve sent your father’s lawyers scrambling? They want to strike a plea deal and settle the remaining civil cases outside of a courtroom.”
“What?” She couldn’t have heard him correctly.
“You did the right thing, Harper. Because of you this will all be over sooner rather than later. Clearly you listened to my advice.”
Ethan tensed and his fingers stopped moving. “She did it because she’d a good person. Because she doesn’t let anyone influence her decisions. Because she has a heart,” Ethan growled. “Your advice drove her away, made her believe that she would somehow bring me down. That she wasn’t good enough. That shit isn’t going to fly anymore, got it? Harper and I are together and nothing is going to change that.”
His father sighed deeply. “You have to know that I only have your future in mind. You’ve worked hard and I don’t want to see you lose it because the court of
