Bridget's bedroom. Kicking his boots off next to the bed, he took his side arm out from its holster and lay it on the table, stretched out on top of the covers, set his phone alarm, lay his phone next to his side arm and listened to the water running in the shower. It wasn't long before he was asleep.
The bed dipping woke him with a start, his immediate reaction was to reach for his gun, but Bridget's voice came to him immediately.
"I'm friendly. Can I lay here? I guess I feel insecure in the other room and as tired as I am, I'm hearing noises that aren't there and just want to be next to you."
His eyes slightly adjusted to the light in the room, the sun was not up yet, though it would be soon. Stretching out his right arm to the side, Bridget climbed up the foot of the bed and lay in the crook of his arm.
Instinctively, he wrapped his arm around her and pulled her tightly to his body. She was stiff as she lay against him.
"Look Bri, you need to relax. Plane will be here in about 3 hours. Josh and I are here. If someone tries anything, we'll be here to protect you."
He squeezed her to him and held tight until he felt her relax against him. What a feeling that was. Unbelievable. They fit together amazingly.
He relaxed his body and waited until he heard her deep even breathing. It didn't take long. Thank God because he was exhausted.
He'd be meeting his son in a few hours. Actually, meeting him and he was eager to spend time with him. That led him to thoughts of what a four-year-old did for fun. What was his favorite color? Did he watch cartoons? Which were his favorites? Did he play games? Which ones? What was his favorite food? What did he like to do first thing in the morning? Did he go to school yet? Some schools offered 4K school, and Aidyn would be old enough for that. The questions kept popping into his head and he couldn't wait to find out the answers to each of them.
Then, the biggest question of all popped into his head. What would they do now? The thought of him living in Lynyrd Station while Aidyn and Bridget were here made his stomach turn. He wanted to be with his son. He wasn't ready to leave GHOST. He could if he wanted to, he had more than enough money. But, what would he do? And, would he and Bridget live in the same house or would they live separately? They weren't a couple, but he wanted to be there every day when Aidyn woke up. He'd missed so much time already, he didn't want to miss another day.
Finally, the questions stopped barraging his brain and he felt his body relax fully and knew sleep would finally come soon. The last thought he had was that Bridget felt so good laying against him. Her head lay on his right shoulder, her right arm rested comfortably on his chest and her hair smelled amazing. Simply amazing.

A blaring sound pierced her deep sleep, and it wouldn't stop. Finally, movement next to her had her eyes flying open and she sat up abruptly and looked down at the man lying next to her.
Axel's eyes looked into hers and held for a long time. His full, sensual lips finally turned up into a slow sexy smile. "Morning."
"Morning." She lay back down on her back staring at the ceiling as the memories of yesterday flooded her brain.
"I'm going to take a shower if you don't mind. We have to get on the plane in 45 minutes. You'll need to pack some clothes to stay for a while."
"Why are we staying with you?"
"We don't have word yet that the Ukrainians have been found and we can't leave you here in case they come back. We're not sure why they're targeting women who are friends with our women whose husbands are in GHOST, but we've got some work to do and it's my job to keep you and Aidyn safe. Of course, your mom as well."
"How in the hell do you think it's your job to keep us safe?"
She bolted upright and looked over at him as he stood and grabbed his phone and gun off the nightstand. Was he for real? She never had anyone else 'keep' her safe. That was her job.
"You are the mother of
