question is, what should we do?” Jacob asked. Nick wiggled his eyebrows.
“Have none of you slept with her yet?” he asked. Anna made sure to hit him right on the arm, and he grinned. “What? After sleeping with you, I was certain that you were my mate.”
“Yeah, but Nick, there are three of them,” she said. “So the situation is a little different.”
“I wasn't suggesting you do it all at the same time,” he replied. “And come on, you guys have thought of it, haven’t you?”
“Of course we’ve thought about it,” I said. “But it’s not that easy.”
“Well, it could be that easy if you just—ow!” Anna hit him again and Nick straightened up. “Sorry. I forgot I’m supposed to be a perfect husband now and forget that I was ever a playboy.”
“You don’t have to forget that you were ever a playboy,” Anna rolled her eyes. “Look, why don’t you let me talk to her? I know what the wolves are like.”
“I was actually going to suggest that,” I said. “Would you mind?”
“No, not at all,” she said. “If anything, it would be refreshing. I haven’t seen some of the other girls in so long.”
“That’s because everyone is always so busy,” Nick replied.
“I know,” Anna grinned. “And here, these lovely gentlemen are saying that I have a captive audience to talk to. Pun intended.”
“Let me give you the keys,” I said and tossed them to her. “You remember where the big log cabin is, don’t you?”
“I do,” she said. “I’ll go now, if you don’t mind, and then I should be done by the time you boys sort out whatever it is you need to sort out?”
“Yep,” Nick said and gave her a kiss before she headed out the door.
Once we were alone, Jacob turned to him.
“You really think this is the answer?” he asked, and Nick nodded.
“I really do,” he said. “Besides, the girl probably wants to sleep with you.”
“I’m not so sure about that,” I answered as I sat down in a spare chair. “She’s had a rough few years. I wouldn’t be surprised if she was done with shifters and done with men.”
“She’s not,” Nick said. “Shifters are so attractive to humans. Do you know how many humans I’ve met who say that they are done with shifters for good? It never stays that way.”
“Mm,” I said. “So what if we end up sharing her?”
“So what if you end up sharing her?” he repeated with a shrug. “Ever since you met, the three of you have shared everything. I don’t see what difference it makes if you share a mate, really. It will just bring in the question of paternity, if it goes that far.”
“This is all a bit much for me,” Johnathan said with a grin. “Honestly, I just focused on banging her. The rest, eh, I’m not so sure about.”
“You want an heir,” I reminded him. “We all want an heir.”
“I know,” he said. “I just don't know why we can’t make things...less formal.”
“Less formal?” I asked. “I don’t think it’s formal right now. We have a girl literally trapped in our house and none of us can make a move on her.”
“I’ll make a move on her,” Johnathan said. “You guys are going to lose this contest.”
“You’ll do nothing of the sort,” Jacob replied. “There’s work to be done, and your face is supposed to be on a video call in like an hour.”
“You think I can’t work that fast?” he said, and Nick rolled his eyes.
“Chill, brother,” he said. “Based on the situation you guys are describing, there will be plenty of time for everything. And everyone.”
I wasn’t sure if he was right, but I felt like we had made some sort of progress. I turned on my computer while Nick waited for the files, and I pretended to work. My mind, though, was a million miles away. I was thinking of Jenny and all the things I wanted to do to her. Maybe Nick was right. Maybe I really would know for sure when I slept with her. I hoped that would be soon because I was not being very productive.
When Anna came back, she had a smile on her face. All of us turned to ask her something, but she shook her head.
“Nope,” she said. “It was girl talk.”
“You didn’t tell her that we—”
“I didn’t tell her anything,” Anna said. “I just got a feel of who she is and what she wants.”
“And?” I asked. Anna smiled with a twinkle
