her having sex and turned to leave. But then she heard her say Paul’s name. And she said she knew in her gut. So she went to check and there they were.”
Holy shit.
“Wow…” I shook my head slowly. “That explains a lot.”
“I’m not excusing how she treated you or anything. She owes you an apology for sure. But I just wanted you to know where she was coming from so you’d have a better understanding. She’s not going to tell you this. She hasn’t even told Mom and Dad. But after the way she outed you and Kingston and the awful things Tisha said she said after I left.” She put my hand to her chest. “I’m so sorry.”
“I know,” I told her, pulling her into a hug.
“And I’m also sorry about how I acted like you were wrong for doing anything with Kingston. I could see from that kiss on the yacht there was something between you two. Everyone saw it. I was just so stuck on trying to make the day perfect and I thought—well, you know what I thought. But I’m sorry. Do you forgive me?”
“Yes. Of course.”
She let out a sigh of relief as we pulled apart. “I wasn’t going to be able to sleep without making up with you first.”
“Me either. I thought I’d broken up the friend group.”
Chloe grabbed my face. “Never! We’re friends for life. We’re not allowed to disband.”
“Good. Do you know how hard it is to make friends as an adult?” I joked.
She giggled. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
“Let’s go back to the resort,” she said, rising to her feet. “I have a marriage to consummate.”
I stood, dusting the sand off the back of me. “I’m surprised that didn’t happen already.”
“The quickie in our suite while we waited for everyone to dry off before we took pictures doesn’t count.” She winked. “We need to do it again.”
My head fell back as I laughed. “I feel you.”
She let out a deep breath as we approached the guys. “I owe you an apology, Kingston.”
“Yeah, you do,” he agreed.
Chloe gave him a hug. “I’m sorry I was trying to set you up behind your back.”
“What was that about?”
She made a face. “I was going to set her up with Kenny, but then two weeks ago she announced she was moving to Atlanta and I immediately thought about you. It was a rash decision. I’m sorry.”
“Apology accepted.”
“Good! I feel so much better now,” she told Dom, wrapping her arms around his waist as we headed back to the resort.
Kingston walked over to me and I instinctively reached out for his hand. I’d never done it before, but after the last thing he said to me, I wanted to hold on to him for as long as I could. He took the rock out of my hand and put it in his pocket before intertwining our fingers.
“I didn’t see this coming, but honestly, it makes perfect sense,” Chloe pointed out.
“You also thought Corrine and Kingston made sense so let’s not go there just yet,” Dom joked.
We all laughed hard.
“But seriously,” Dom continued. “What’s up? What is this? Just something fun for the weekend? Or are you moving to Atlanta?”
“Why would you assume she has to move, Mr. Love?” Chloe asked, staring up at her husband. “Why can’t the man move for the woman?”
“That could happen. But in this particular case, Kingston has a business in Atlanta that he loves. Simone has a job she goes to because it pays well. If one of them were going to move, it makes the most sense that it would be Simone,” he answered with a shrug. “We know it’s not long-distance.”
“True,” she agreed before looking at us. “Was this just the wedding magic or is this real?”
“It’s real,” Kingston and I said in unison.
We looked at each other and cackled at how rehearsed it sounded.
“Oh my God!” Chloe squealed happily. “I love this! I love this so much! So, are you moving to Atlanta or…?”
I didn’t know what to say.
We hadn’t even figured it out yet, so to try to explain it to someone else felt premature.
“Simone is the woman for me,” Kingston answered. “That’s all I know for sure.”
I looked up at him and when our eyes met, there was an adoration in his gaze that made my heart rate spike. “This man is trying to make me fall for him just so I will move to Atlanta.”
“It looks like it’s working,” Chloe commented.
Dom snickered. “It sure
