either. It was my first time in a gay club, hell, my first time in any club in a long-ass time. I felt old and out of place, but Cal, Josh, and Kellan had wanted to go for a while now, and we finally made it.
“Because I’m fucking good,” Josh replied. “He needs to get out and have more fun.”
Griffin and Chase approached us then with a handful of beers for everyone. They passed them around, Remy and Law declining. Lawson, like a fierce protector, hadn’t let go of Remy all night. Being here was big for Remy, given his anxiety and all, but he was doing well, laughing and joking with the rest of us. He had his good days and bad, but he was trying to experience life more, and I thought that was because of the man beside him.
The thought made me wrap my arms around Callum and pull him close, his back to my chest.
“What were you guys talking about?” Chase asked.
“How my brother is going to steal my best friend,” Kellan teased.
“Hello pot, meet kettle,” Griffin said.
“He didn’t steal me,” Chase replied. “You’ll always be my brother, Griff. You know that.”
Griffin nodded. “Yeah, but I like to give him shit.”
“Aw, does that mean you really do think of me as your bestie?” Josh slung an arm over Griff’s shoulders. “I’m touched. And don’t worry, boys, there’s enough of me to go around. I’ve always wanted to know what it was like to have a pair of brothers, only it wasn’t friendship in my fantasies.”
Kellan and Chase laughed.
“You’re gross,” Griffin told Josh.
“You love me, Griffy. I make your life more interesting.” Josh leaned over and gave him a loud, smacking kiss on the cheek, much like he would have done with Kellan, only Griff jerked away.
“I don’t know where those lips have been.” Griff wiped his cheek.
“Always busting my balls,” Josh replied.
“As fun as this is,” Cal said, “I want to go dance with my man.” He grabbed my hand and began dragging me.
“Wait. I’m old. I can’t dance.”
“Just move like you do when you’re fucking me, and we’ll be good,” he teased, and damn it, that easily I started to get hard. We found a spot on the dance floor and began moving together.
It had been a great few months. Charlie had spent some extra time in Havenwood—she and I taking a couple of overnight trips, just the two of us. It didn’t take her long at all to love Callum as much as Logan did. I wasn’t surprised. It was impossible not to love him.
Logan was back in school. He and Dale were still great friends. He didn’t have a lot of other ones, but he was okay with that. He’d grown into a much more confident young man. He didn’t feel like he had to be any kind of way. He was comfortable in who he was, and I thought a big part of that was due to the man moving his ass against my groin right then, the man who had moved in with us about six weeks before. Maybe that was fast to some people, but it wasn’t to us. It was exactly how it was supposed to be.
Logan was staying with Mary Beth while we were in Richmond. She loved spending time with the kids. I knew Logan reminded her of Callum in a lot of ways.
The hardest part was being away from Charlie. We’d had more than one talk—her, Carol, Callum, and me. She wanted to be close to us, but she didn’t want to leave her mom. We were looking into other options, one being Carol and Charlie moving closer. As much as I missed Charlie, Carol missed Logan. She’d said Havenwood had grown on her and maybe I was right about living in the boonies after all.
Callum and I danced for a while. I couldn’t keep my eyes or hands off him. He was wearing eyeliner and a tight shirt that showed off his abs. I ran my hands up and down his back, his ass, savoring what was mine.
He pushed up on his toes, mouth close to my ear. “I want you.”
I practically growled in response before taking his hand and going back to our friends.
It was only Law, Remy, Griff, and Josh there, Kellan and Chase having disappeared, likely to dance.
“You gonna dance with me or what?” Josh asked Griff, who shook his head. “Friends can dance with each other, you know.”
“What? It’s not that.
