here with him for a little while. As in…a few hours. Long enough to get naked and explore the rest of his body. I’d not gotten to do much of that the other night, something I now regretted.
“Tomorrow it is, then.” Hudson took a sip of his cappuccino and moaned. “That’s good. So is everything okay with your dad?”
I shrugged one shoulder. “Not by what most people would consider okay, no. But for my family, it’s pretty much what I’ve come to expect lately. He’s an asshole who is driven solely by money and prestige. He sees Clifton’s as one of, if not the top ski lodge in the state. But he didn’t realize just how much he fucked up when he fired me. I honestly don’t think he expected me to quit. Most people probably wouldn’t, but my health needed to come first.”
“I happen to agree. Which is why I’m hesitant to open early. We’re already staying late, and you’ll be on your own over here while I’m over there,” Hudson said as he thumbed over his left shoulder. I rolled my eyes.
“It’s not like you’re forever apart from me. We’re separated by fifteen feet, Hudson. I can shout to you if I really need help with something. And the stress here—even if I’m by myself—is nothing like what my family put on me with regards to the lodge and the image we needed to project at all times.”
I could tell he was thinking about it, and when his eyes narrowed at me, I knew I’d won and I did a little dance that involved wiggling my butt and swinging my hips from side to side.
“Fine, but you will take a lunch and supper break. I can’t open just yet. I have to run upstairs. I was in the middle of throwing our supper in the slow cooker when you texted.”
I stopped dancing. “Yeah? What are we having?”
“Potato and ham soup with cheese and bacon crumbles. The cheese will be added later tonight, and the bacon is put on top. But I currently have potatoes in the slow cooker with the onion and garlic, and that’s about it.”
“Well then, you go upstairs and get that finished up, and I’m going to get things here prepped. I need to get the coffee going and get the rest of the stuff staged and ready.”
“You sure? You can come up with me,” Hudson said as he leaned over the counter. I met him halfway, but after an awkward kiss that could easily become heated, I pulled back.
“If I go up with you, at least one of us is going to end up with their pants around their ankles,” I said.
“That was the plan,” Hudson said. He set his cappuccino on the counter and held out his hand in invitation. How could I say no? I’d be stupid to say no.
I didn’t say no. As soon as we were upstairs, Hudson pulled me over to the couch, and after getting my jeans undone and down to my knees, he pushed me down and knelt in front of me. I quickly convinced him to move to the floor so we could both be on our sides and I could suck him at the same time.
It was an amazing way to start the day and something we both ended up being grateful for because we were slammed. The tourist had arrived in full force, and the locals were out grabbing up whatever Christmas presents they could. Cappuccinos was a huge hit, and by an hour after we’d opened, there was a line that was always four deep.
Hudson would often glance over at me, a look of surprise on his face. The power of coffee. It was a great thing. So were before-work blowjobs, but that wasn’t something I’d share with everyone.

“This is nuts,” Ford said as he stood up from where he’d been crouched over my shoulder to look at the computer screen.
I had to agree. It was. But the numbers were there in black and white.
“From coffee?”
“Specialty coffees, but yes. Sawyer had said that people loved their coffee. I mean, you and I are no different,” I told him. “And sales in Fairy Tales are up as well. Sawyer had said that people would grab a coffee and then wander around and pick up things. He couldn’t have been more right.” And wasn’t that just something?
“But it’s only been four days that you’ve been open, right? Friday was the first day,” Ford said and
