deeper into her mouth, wanting to crawl inside of her and build a home. When I can no longer resist licking down the column of her neck, I break the kiss and take a step back. Her pink tongue skates over her swollen lips, and the sight is enough to make me groan.
I notice the tremble in my hand when I push a lock of her hair behind her ear.
Without thought, my thumb traces her bottom lip.
“Goodbye,” I whisper as I open my office door and then walk away.
Chapter 22
Sophia
I built my college graduation up more than I should have. Instead of it being this huge shining moment, it was hours of sitting and pretending to pay attention while waiting for the entire thing to just be over with.
Tonight is different. Tonight is going to be fun. I have just the right amount of alcohol in my system to smile at everything, and just enough to feel bold at the sight of Colton Matthews standing across the room. He doesn’t look uneasy in the clubhouse, but I don’t miss the way his eyes roam around the room, taking everything but me in.
I have no doubt he knows where I’m at and would track me across the room if I got up and walked somewhere else. I could go and flirt with the new guys Cerberus hired, but I don’t have it in me to waste my time. I told him more than once, I wasn’t looking to play games with him. Hell, I was prepared to walk away and count the loss of him as a lesson learned then…
“One kiss. A good luck, a congratulations, thanks for helping me out the last two months—an I’m going to miss you kiss. Just one?”
There’s not even half a chance I can stay away from him now because that kiss was the kiss. The one that will make everyone after pale in comparison. The one that will haunt my dreams until I get another. There’s no walking away after that.
I told him a week and a half ago that I wouldn’t beg, but hell that was before knowing what his tongue felt like against mine. Then, I was strong and determined. Now, I’m an addict, and like the letdown after that first taste of heroin, my skin is itching for the next hit.
I pressed a cordial kiss to his cheek when I greeted him upon arrival but begging him to get me out of here at the time didn’t happen. There were too many people watching, too many people without an ounce of alcohol in their systems for me to make my move that early in the night.
With confidence, I pull out my phone and shoot off a text.
Me: Still turned on by that kiss.
I turn my phone over in my lap when Izzy shifts beside me.
“Look.” I nudge my head in the direction of Delilah and Ivy. They’re both fawning over Simone’s little boy. “No one around here gets upset about babies.”
“Hush,” she snaps, looking around the room to make sure no one overheard me.
I watch as Colton pulls his phone from his pocket, but he doesn’t send a text back before stuffing it right back in his jeans.
That fucker.
Picking up my phone, I fire off another text. Go big or go home, right?
Me: My pussy is so wet for you.
His head tilts halfway in my direction but he catches himself before looking at me fully. There’s a warning there, I just know it, but I’m no longer going to listen to the voice in my head telling me it’ll be better if I walk away.
“Who are you texting?” Izzy whispers near my ear.
“Hush,” I hiss. “Mind your own business.”
“My own business?” She huffs. “Pot. Kettle. Daddy? Really, Soph, aren’t you a little old to have Dom’s phone number in your phone like that?”
I turn my phone over just as it buzzes in my hand. Then it buzzes again, and again, and again. Izzy is still in my face, so I turn my phone over and hold it comically close to my nose. Before I read the texts, I make a quick scan of the room. Mom and Dad are nuzzling each other like teens during prom. Other than Izzy, no one else is around that I’m worried about.
Daddy: Stop.
Daddy: Please don’t do this to me.
Daddy: Fuck.
Daddy: And how am I supposed to explain an erection to your father?
I bite my lips to stave off a smile, my eyes taking in every
