to the side. “That’s pretty good, but I can see your hard-on from here.”
“Cheeky as ever.”
“Yeah, and there’s something else I am, too.”
“What would that be?”
“Head over heels in love with you, Oliver,” she whispered unevenly.
It hit him hard right in the heart. His throat tightened, and his chest filled with too many emotions to name. “Is that so?”
Her chin lifted and her eyes softened with tenderness. “Yes, and if you don’t make love to me right now, I will disintegrate.”
“So, this would be to save your life.”
“Yes.” She gave him a slow half smile that was a come-on if he’d ever seen one.
“Again?” he whined as he pulled off his T-shirt. “I’m telling you. What I do for my country…” He unzipped his jeans and pushed them down along with his underwear. His dick, aching and hard, jutted from his body.
A sparkle of amusement appeared in her eyes, and she tipped her head to one side. “Beyond the call of duty and all that?”
“Yeah, luv. All that.”
“You are such a prince.”
He walked to the bed and grabbed her by the back of the neck and opened his mouth over hers. “Nah,” he whispered against her soft lips, “just a frog…man.” He nudged her. “Are you going to move so I can do my, uh, duty?”
“The things I do for my country,” she whined with a grin.
He settled onto the mattress and pulled her silky body to his. “Anna, I love you with everything that I am. There’s no one else I’d rather be with.”
She looked at him, her eyes wide, her expression transfixed by a host of emotions.
He took her face between his hands and said, “Marry me, Anna.”
Her eyes filled with tears and she hugged him like there was no tomorrow. His throat closed up completely, and Dodger shut his eyes and turned his face against her, hugging her back.
“Yes,” she murmured. “So many yeses.”
Wrapping his arms around her torso, he totally enveloped her, breathing in her beautiful fragrance. He gave her a tight squeeze and whispered against her skin, “I only need one.”
She made a sound that was somewhere between laughter and tears, and she hugged him even harder. “I’ve missed you so much.”
He dragged her under him and proceeded to show her how much he’d missed her.
Anna was cooking breakfast in Dodger’s kitchen as content as she could be. After they had made love last night, she told him how she’d been charged and processed, placed in a cell. They asked her dozens of questions, which she answered truthfully. Kat had come to see her every day until the last day, when she brought the evidence that cleared her. It had been six long weeks, and it was so good to feel the sun on her face. She’d found out from Max what had happened to the SEALs and about how 2-Stroke and Chry had been kidnapped. When she confronted Kat, she said she thought it was too much for Anna to hear while she was trapped with no way to help.
She would have climbed the walls, knowing how devastated everyone was, especially Dodger.
She’d held him then, telling him how sorry she was to hear that terrible news. But they were doing everything to find his missing teammate and her colleague.
Waking up with him, knowing that he loved her, had asked her to marry him, was glorious.
“Hey, that smells good.”
She set his plate on the counter. “Bacon, eggs, toast, and coffee.”
“Mm-hmm,” he said, coming over and kissing her. “I woke up and thought I was dreaming, but if I am, I don’t want to wake up.”
He slid onto the stool as Anna set down her own plate.
“So, was your marriage proposal spur of the moment?”
“Yeah, but I think I knew I was going to ask you.”
She wiggled her fingers. “Did you forget something?”
He looked at her blankly.
“Did I?”
She dug her fingers into his side, and he laughed.
“You are a cheeky devil,” she said. “So, what about the ring? Oh, and I have one condition.”
“You already said yes. You can’t go back on your word.”
“One condition,” she wheedled with a gleam in her eyes. “Let me tell Max.”
Dodger threw back his head and laughed. “Deal, as long as I get to watch.”
“Deal,” she echoed back at him.
“So, you don’t have to worry about a ring. I got it covered.”
“Really.”
“Yeah,” he said. “I know—”
“—a bloke!” She hugged him so hard, they went careening off the stools and landed on the floor.
“Not exactly,” he said. “It’s a lady. My
