our baby’s head hanging out of me. I want nothing more than to kick his ass for looking, but I don’t have it in me to scream at him right now.
The doctor checks that the cord isn’t wrapped around the baby’s neck, and all too soon, she’s telling me to keep pushing. Bull snaps back into a supportive daddy role, and I squeeze down on his hand once again, finishing what I started.
I hear the precious cries just moments before my child is placed upon my chest. The tears of pain instantly become of joy. “Congratulations,” the doctor says with pride. “You’ve got a girl.”
“A girl?” Bull breathes in adoration as he looks down on us. A towel is placed over our baby, and I release Bull’s hand and help the midwife clean her up. “She’s beautiful just like her mommy.”
I look up at Bull, and his face instantly lowers before he drops a kiss to my lips. “I love you so goddamn much,” he tells me, making me smile against his lips. “Don’t you ever forget that, Angel. You’re my fucking everything.”
I kiss him back. “I love you too.”
Things start happening down between my legs, cutting this moment with Bull short. My baby cries in my arms, and I do my best to soothe her, but from experience, these midwives are just seconds from taking this baby away to be weighed and measured. “Does she have a name?” the doctor asks with her head still between my legs.
I glance up at Bull as his thumb rubs over my shoulder. He nods, and I know he’s referring to the conversation we were only having last night, discussing this very thing. We both threw out a few names for each gender, but in the end, only one felt right while still being able to flow with our other kids. “Yeah, this is Reece. Reece Stone.”
Bull beams, making every inch of his handsome face glow. I’ve never seen him look so proud, only I’m wrong. Just as the thought goes through my mind, Tarryn appears in the doorway, pushing a little crib, only this one isn’t for Reece as it’s already being occupied by her big brother.
My heart swells, having my two babies finally together. Tarryn brings his crib over to my bedside as the midwife takes Reece to get her cleaned up. Bull instantly checks over Zeke, showing me without a doubt that he’s going to be an incredible father. No one cares more about these babies than him.
Bull gets Zeke out of his crib and cradles him in his arms, and not a second later, Reece is being put back into mine.
Time seems to disappear. In this moment, it’s just the four of us. The busy midwives don’t exist, the doctor doesn’t exist, the beeping machines, cords, and disgusting bodily fluids don’t exist. All that matters are these two babies.
Bull sits on the edge of the bed and lowers Zeke into my lap, where I can lay Reece next to him. “Are you sure we’re ready for this?” Bull laughs, probably in disbelief at how he’s gone from a single man to a father of two and a family of six in the blink of an eye.
“It’s a bit too late to worry about that,” I laugh. “We have no choice but to be ready, but we’ll be just fine. You’re already the best daddy to these babies. We’ve got this.”
Bull’s arm snakes around my waist, and he pulls me into his side, being careful not to jostle me too much. “You’re right, Angel. We’re going to rock this.”
We sit for a short while, just the four of us before the nurse comes in and tells me it’s time to start feeding Reece. After all, she’s been through a huge ordeal today and must be pretty damn hungry. As I get myself under control, Bull makes all the calls, starting with Zoey. He asks her to swing by with Ryan and Coby so they can meet their new sister and spend some time together as a family for the very first time.
Just as I knew she would, Zoey drops absolutely everything she was doing with my girls and gets them to the hospital in record time. I hear her from down the hall and laugh as I look up at Bull. The sound of Zoey dragging Ryan behind her, hurrying her along overtakes the sounds of the women down the hall, screaming in agony.
Bull makes his way to the door,
