blasting from the speakers; silencing any possible conversation. With a smile I took hold of his hands and made him stay to dance. It took a few minutes but he soon loosened up and let himself enjoy the dance floor the way I had. Our hands and arms were all over each other giving me a night of the most fun I had in a long time.
Demons Unleashed
My bedside lamp cast a soft glow over Corey’s bare chest and partially revealed hips—the low ridden sheet covered the rest. For the past ten minutes, my chin rested against his hard stomach as I tried to calm down after expelling another serious round of passionate sex that left me exhausted. Corey’s eyes were shut but I knew by the sounds of his breathing that he was still awake. I scanned the countless tattoos inked over his arms and sides. Most girls I knew couldn’t help but swoon over the tatted up “bad boy” look and before now I could have cared less about that look. However, there was something in the way each line and color stood out against his skin that made my heart skip a beat. Throughout the past month, I had seen Corey naked numerous times; I had traced my tongue and fingers along the intricate designs. This was the first time I truly took the time to appreciate them.
Amongst the tribal were numerous animals, a few flowers, and what looked to be a Chinese dragon. Each piece was beautifully detailed and all around stunning to behold. Truthfully, I had no idea what took me so long to notice but now that I had, the need to know more was overwhelming.
“These are spectacular, Corey. Do they mean anything special to you?” I’ve known people that put ink on their bodies for no other reason that they like the look of it.
“Every single one means something to me.” He responded in a whisper with his eyes still closed.
“Can you tell me the meaning?”
“In just a minute.”
“What? why?” We were doing nothing more than just lying here—why would he need a minute?
“Because I just need to revel in this for a little longer.”
“Revel in what, Corey?” This time his eyes flickered open and met with mine.
“This moment. Having you here lying on me, resting with me… it means more to me than you could imagine, Danielle. Never before have I felt such peace with another person. Everything just feels right.”
My heart just about beat out of my chest and my throat tightened at his words. That was the single most beautiful thing anyone had ever said to me and I knew just how true his words were for me, too.
Instead of gushing out the depths of my tangled heart, I tried to make light of the situation. “It could have something to do with the few orgasms you just had.” He flashed me a devilish grin and shook his head.
“No, it’s just you.” On the tip of my tongue sat everything I wanted to say—everything I was afraid to admit, but it didn’t come out. Instead, I pressed my lips to his stomach in a lingering kiss to hopefully portray some of the emotion I couldn’t verbalize. His fingers twisted in my long hair and together we sat up. After placing a chaste kiss on my lips, he twisted his arm so I could see the tattoo he was referring to.
“Well, the tribal is Celtic because I’m Irish. You’ve already seen my sisters initials but they each have their own animal, too.”
“Which animal goes to which sister?” Again, Corey’s arm moved to give me a better glance at each of them.
“Abby is the oldest and the white tiger is hers because they are fierce, strong and courageous creatures. She has always been independent and comfortable in her own skin. Lainey is the doe because she is sensitive, gentle and compassionate. She is also the shy one of the family, needs the most reassurance and support. My little sister Karly is the hummingbird—they symbolize love, joy and life. That’s her, even when life’s been rough she’s always looked for the beauty.” My fingers trailed delicately over every one as he spoke. Not only did his tattoos have a purpose but also they were some of the most well thought out and incredible motivations. Those markings were a look into his soul and quite frankly, I loved what I saw.
Corey’s finger pointed to the lilies near his heart. “These are for my mother
