offered me a sad look. “He did. He was only eight though and the choice wasn’t really his. When Titan finds you, because the maker knows he will - he’s always been a bit attached. Not that it’s a bad thing but very persistent for such a young man. Anyway, when he does listen to his story, promise me that.”
“I promise,” I whispered, loving her rambling tangents. This moment was of course more than I could have ever wished for, but I wanted her in real life. I wanted to spend time together and to have the type of support she had offered in mere minutes that others couldn’t give me in years.
“Alright, Ophelia, its time,” she hugged me as I sighed into it and she pulled back, “I love you so much and I am so proud of you.” My eyes watered as I closed them and small trickles of heat filled my temples, the pressure releasing as I felt the earth fall out underneath me.
I guess I had hoped it would be as easy as that.
A scream caught in my throat as I blindly fell. Flames began to lick every inch of my skin and thorns drew blood, wrapping around my ankles and up my body, poking and prodding. Thunder reigned above and an icy chill ran up my neck. I cried out but my back began to burn so badly that everything inside of me felt like it was coming alive.
My brain pulsated in pain as I gripped onto myself wanting it to end. I felt as though it went on forever, my spine cracking as something expanded out behind me, my eyes rolling up into the back of my head before everything went absolutely and completely dark.

My throat was so fucking dry. I swallowed as my head spun and bile rose up in my throat. I was on my stomach and my face was on the carpet of the living room, lord knows how I had gotten there. I shivered as I tried to force my eyes open, a heavy fucking weight on my back that seemed foreign. Yet, at the same time, it moved naturally.
“Ophelia? Pretty girl?” Merrick begged softly, his voice like a warm anxiety-free trip. I inhaled happily and finally opened my eyes, finding myself peering right into his soft velvet eyes.
“Merrick,” I offered a small smile.
“Is she okay?” Koa asked as I pushed myself up, wincing because of the massive change in weight. Ohh, shiit.
“Do I have wings?” I turned my head side to side noting a fluttering pattern behind me that was purple and gold. No freakin’ way. Oh man, I sort of thought they had been joking.
“They’re beautiful,” Koa said softly, his voice filled with awe as I met his gaze, blushing slightly.
“They are really flippin’ heavy,” I muttered.
“Do you need some water?” Merrick asked, helping me stand up as I looked around the room realizing it looked perfectly normal. I frowned.
“How long was I out?” I asked quietly.
“You opened the book and passed out, maybe five minutes at most,” Koa offered.
I smiled softly, “Seemed longer. I met my mother.”
“What?” Merrick demanded softly as I sat down and nodded, my shoulders stiff.
“Could you grab me some medicine? I think it's in my middle cabinet.”
“You use the stuff I made you?” Koa asked proudly, his cute grin making me smile.
“Of course,” I winced and he moved behind me, his warm rough hands sliding onto my shoulders. Relaxing back into him I sighed. That was until he ran his fingers along my wings. I let out a whimper, the touch sending a rippling effect to the center of my core as a heavy wave of lust hit me so hard I nearly passed out.
“Koa,” Merrick growled.
“I didn’t mean to,” he hissed, “I forgot how intense it can be at first, I’m sorry, Lia.”
I was almost damn near positive I’d just had a mini climax from that. I blinked trying to clear my vision as I shook my head. “It’s totally fine Koa, it did not hurt… quite the opposite.”
Koa chuckled and we all froze as a sound, coming from Merrick’s phone alerted us to a call. “It’s Rain.” He picked up walking into the bedroom as Koa came to kneel between my legs, his large hands running over my thighs.
“You are magnificent,” he said softly as I blushed. I hated how much that was happening lately.
“Now you understand why I was so impressed by your wings,” I teased as I leaned forward
