from my lips.
“Did you even ask Ophelia if she wanted pixie dust all over her?” Koa chimed, sitting down on the bed, putting his arms behind his head and showing off impressive abs underneath his shirt.
“Pixie dust?” I asked and looked down, my eyes widening at the rainbow of sparkles all over me. I experimentally tried to brush some of it off but a low rumble built in Merrick’s throat as he looked up with narrowed eyes. I grinned as Koa shook his head.
“Pixie’s are a bit possessive, Lia,” Koa sighed, “Isn’t that right, Merrick?”
“Fuck off,” he muttered again and inhaled while rolling over, and my eyes went straight to his very hard erection in the outline of his jeans.
What, I am not going to look?
“You got yourself stuck in here for me?” I asked Koa curiously.
“Yes,” he offered a charming smile.
Merrick ran a hand through his hair looking a bit more normal, his eyes heated as they ran over my skin before he stood and walked back in the living room area. I think he cursed the entire way.
Koa offered me a grin and kissed my temple gently, “He is very easy to work up once he lets his magic out.”
“Yeah?” I arched a brow. “You shouldn’t be so mean teasing him. Last time I checked you guys got all freaky when I touched your wings.”
He groaned putting his head back, “Sweetheart, you can touch my wings whenever the hell you want. Just say the word.” I almost did.
“Does Rain know what's going on?” Merrick called, walking back in and looking far more relaxed.
My skin, for the record, was still sparkly as fuck. I sort of liked it in a weird way.
“And Oliver, they tried to portal in but realized something was fucked up,” he explained quietly.
“So what’s the plan?”
“Rain and Oliver are going to keep working on it,” Koa shrugged, “we will figure it out.”
“Okay, you are all way to fucking relaxed about this.” I stood up and walked over to my game shelf.
Merrick watched me from where he was in the living room area.
I opened the shelves and began to pull out games until I pulled out the book my mother had given me, maybe this would do it? I had considered using my necklace but I didn’t want to call Adrian over here. I wanted to get out of this shit myself.
It was about then that I realized I wasn’t afraid of Denise. Don’t get me wrong, bitch was absolutely crazy, but I wasn’t afraid of her. There were far scarier things to worry about. I brought the book towards the large table in front of the fireplace and took a deep breath, running my hands over the outside. Honestly, I was a bit scared of what would happen when I opened this.
“I can tell there is some pretty heavy fae magic containing whatever is in there,” Koa offered quietly, looking more serious than normal, “are you positive you want to open that?” I considered his question, knowing I could probably put it off. But I was stuck inside, locked in my room by my insane stepmother who wanted to keep me away from everyone until she was ready to use me.
I totally remember Cinderella having a scene like this. Wait, did that mean there was a prince waiting for me downstairs with glass slippers? Not positive I want those. I mean I had some really comfortable slippers that would do just fine for me thank you very much. Oh, or flats. I would be far more likely to accept glass ballet flats.
“Let’s do this shit,” I tugged back my hair and closed my eyes.
What happened next was completely unexpected.
Chapter 18
Ophelia Rose
Invisible Winds & Unexpected Guests
A wind that shouldn’t have been possible, filled the space like a hurricane. The lights went out, bulbs cracking as I was bathed in darkness - the fire completely extinguished. A cool rainy scent filled the space as I shivered, both men still on the couch behind me, clearly trying to predict what was going to happen next. For just a moment everything was silent, then the book began to glow.
At first, it was soft, almost like a tiny candle but then it was far larger, a purple mist seeping out from the worn pages, not allowing me to actually read anything. My eyes widened as a gold script appeared in front of me with my name.
Ophelia Rose.
Behind me, a small strangled noise sounded and I turned to find that both
