going to be fun.
Chapter 20
Tristan
What the fuck was he up to?
I have an idea. You’re going to love it. Mostly teasing. No sex. Finger foods would be helpful. Less messy.
The text was intriguing and frightening all at the same time.
What was the most frustrating thing, however, was that he’d gotten distracted with whatever plan he’d concocted and had probably left his phone someplace weird because he wasn’t answering back. I was going to get home and find it in the fridge again.
Knowing Dakota, his idea had to have come from one of his books, but the comments about food and no sex weren’t enough to help me guess. He had a startling number of books with scenes that combined food and teasing of some sort.
They seemed to happen when he wrote sex scenes hungry.
Rowan had teased that meeting Dakota would ruin the magic of the stories for me, but I’d loved getting to see not only his books as they were written but the method to his madness and creativity. Seeing the process that the wizard took didn’t make the magic any less special.
Of course, I hadn’t seen the text until after I’d ordered Chinese, but I was good with chopsticks so hopefully that would help the finger food problem with whatever he’d planned.
The drive back to the house seemed to drag. I kept trying to imagine which scene he was recreating, but I wasn’t coming up with anything reasonable…especially with Wade there.
I knew they were technically more than friends when it came down to semantics, but we’d never taken things too far. Aside from a bit of cuddling, we’d behaved ourselves. Not that I thought it would be an issue if we’d crossed a few lines.
Dakota had been open to the idea of playing around with other people at the club as long as we had very clear boundaries and we didn’t have sex with anyone else, but I wasn’t sure he’d meant Wade.
Besides, his text had said sex was off the table.
Right?
Refusing to pull out my phone and risk killing myself over his crazy text, I focused on the road and not letting the food go flying. By the time I’d pulled up in front of the house, the smell had me ravenous and I was beyond curious.
Calmly getting out of the car, I grabbed the food and then headed inside, remembering to lock the door behind me since Dakota couldn’t always be counted on to do it. I paused, listening to any sounds that might give me a clue about what they were up to.
Quiet giggles coming from the living room Dakota hardly ever used had me even more curious. It was a beautiful room I could only assume Austin had decorated with Dakota in mind, but the only times he was ever in that room was when I suggested watching a movie. Otherwise, everyone filed into his office when they came over.
It was a habit I was trying to break. No matter how much Dakota loved his job and how it was part of who he was, he needed a break from it sometimes.
This could have been one of those times, but as I quietly got closer to the wide oversized doorway to the living room, I knew which book he was pulling from…the harem one.
Most of his books were contemporary in different ways, but there were a few that were historical from different time periods. He’d taken some liberties with the harem book, as he called it, but the historical details he’d researched and incorporated had been incredible.
The scene that greeted me now wasn’t an exact replica from the book, but the two kneeling omegas in costumes that were too sheer to be called pants were clearly waiting for their Master to come and feed them.
This was going to be an interesting evening.
And I was starting to see why he didn’t want messy food…between the carpet and those costumes we didn’t want food dripping everywhere.
Not this time, at least.
We were going to come back to this scene another time when Wade wasn’t around.
Leaving them there to quietly giggle, I headed into the kitchen and started reorganizing the food. When I had a tray of dumplings and eggrolls and mostly sauce-free beef and broccoli, I headed back toward the living room.
More giggles coming from the living room had me clearing my throat. “Is that how my slaves obey when I plan on rewarding them?”
The laughter quickly silenced, but I heard a quiet moan that could have
