so.
Blaine grunted and took Hope from Sasha, cradling the baby in his arms, and moved to where Graham stood next to the kitchen island that separated the kitchen from the living room.
Tanner’s gaze locked on her instantly as he crossed the room to her. Crossing her arms, she braced herself for him to start barking orders at her. Nothing he would say or do will stop her from joining the search for her Alpha.
“Why are you here?”
She rolled her eyes at Tanner’s commanding tone, then turned her attention to Jonathan. “Hello.”
Inclining his head, Jonathan put his hands in his jean pockets. “How are you?”
Sasha shrugged. “Good considering.”
Tanner moved closer to her and she ignored him, which irritated the male even more. He let out a low growl. “We don’t need to be meeting. We need to be searching for Mom.”
“We have trackers out. The Blackrock bears have loaned out their trackers as well. Plus Alec is working with the other computer geeks in the Evers Creek Pride and Birchwood Pack to track the information from the computer files Jared stole from the Onyx den when they rescued the kids.” She didn’t know the specifics of the data retrieval, but Alec said it took longer than it usually did for him to break the encryption. Hence why he recruited help.
Once news got out that Luna was abducted, the Council of Elders instantly set steps in motion to bring together all the local packs, prides, and clans to pitch in and help with the search. It was looking like the new lab that Faelin was working out of wasn’t one Felix had used. It may not be a lab at all. So they had nothing to go on unless the Alec and his team got anything useful from the copied hard drive.
She felt Tanner’s heated gaze on her. He was still waiting for an answer to his earlier question. Opening her mouth to tell him to fuck off, Hayden stepped in her line of sight. When she met his gaze, he nodded as if knowing he wasn’t going to talk her out of going with the next group of hunters. Hayden acknowledged Tanner and Jonathan with a nod before saying, “After the meeting the three of you go pack and be ready to head out in the morning. Alec and Kirk will meet you in the courtyard at 6:00 a.m., then you all will fly out to California.”
California? Did they have a lead? Before she could ask, Tanner said, “Sasha should stay here. She our Healer and needs to stay with the Pack.”
Hayden hit his brother with a hard glare and growl. “It’s because she is a Healer, is why she is going. If mom is hurt, she can heal her on the spot.” Then Hayden walked off, ending the conversation.
Sasha lifted her chin and watched Tanner as he worked his jaw and fisted his hands. Jonathan sent her a sympathetic look but didn’t say anything. He’d hung around Tanner long enough to know the male was hard headed and overprotected to the point it was irritating.
Not wanting to deal with Tanner while he was in his current mood, she crossed to room to where Shay and Cam sat on the sofa with two of the triplets. Graham had the third cradled in his arms, feeding her a bottle.
As Sasha sat next to Cam, Jared and Sable entered the house. Jared stopped next to Blaine, who stood in the center of the large living room. They spoke softly for a few moments before Blaine let out a breath and looked at Sable briefly. Then he said to the room, “About an hour ago Jon and Tanner had a run in with a few mutants. Ana and a small team answered Tanner’s howl.” Blaine paused and smirked at his sister who sat next to Sable, who had Alec’s laptop balanced on her knees. “Ana, being the ruthless mutant killer she is, was able to extract information from one of them.”
Sasha wasn’t sure she wanted to know how Ana got the information. What worried Sasha was the fact that Jon and Tanner faced off mutants. Had they gone out searching for them or were they attacked? Dread slammed into her as the thought that they could have been killed entered her mind.
Ana said, “We had suspicions that Faelin fled to California but nothing solid of a guess to what part of the state he could be. The helpful mutant told me that Faelin is
