of his mouth dipped into a frown. “I thought born Hunters were a myth.”
Rhea shrugged and let her dark power flow freely. “Let’s pretend they still are.”
“Fair enough,” Kasen glanced to Tanner and gave a slight nod of acknowledgement. “You brought your Healer and children?”
Beside Sasha, Brenna fisted her hands. Sasha pressed her shoulder into Brenna’s and the teen relaxed a little.
“Those kids are junior Enforcers and could run circles around yours,” Alec said on a growl. “The Healer is too stubborn to stay at home since her Alpha is missing.”
Sasha pressed her lips together to keep from laughing.
Kasen narrowed his eyes, his Alpha power extended out and flowed around them. It was too bad none of them were submissive or they might have given a fuck about the Alpha pushing his authority on them.
After a few moments, Kasen pointed to the male siting at his right. “This is Dalton Cross, my Beta. Beside him is Chance Becket, my head Enforcer.”
Alec inclined his head to each of the males, not bothering to acknowledge the several Enforcers around the bar that weren’t introduced. He took a seat and the rest of them did as well. “You know why we are here.”
“Yes.” Kasen let out a low rumble of a growl. “I asked around about this Faelin and when I didn’t get anywhere through my Pack resources, I sent in a scout to stir up the underground rogue Packs.”
Sasha frowned at the mention of rogue Packs and the fact they were underground. Why would Kasen allow them to organize? Had they started out like Onyx? Were the Alphas somewhat normal and law bidding? She kept quiet, for now.
Since Tanner nor Alec asked about the rogues, she figured they knew about them. So, she’d wait to ask her questions later.
“What I found out, confirmed your suspicions and pissed me the hell off. This mutant…what the fuck ever he is, got into my territory without me knowing. Even the rogues register with me before they enter.” Kasen glanced to Sasha, earning him a growl from Jon and Tanner. That only amused the Alpha.
Dalton broke his silence. “The rogues Kasen is referring to are rebels. To Kasen they are one in the same.”
Rolling his eyes, Kasen said, “One is the lesser evil. Anyway, the rebels are a wealth of information, so I allow them to stay in my territory as long as they follow the rules.”
“Which means they have more freedom here than other Pack lands.” Tanner threw an arm over the back of Sasha’s chair and started making circles on her shoulder with his fingers.
Kasen gave a half shrug. “My scout says Faelin isn’t well known among the rebels, but a few of them did say he took over the Onyx Pack, which is now mostly mutants. But you already know that. There is also rumor that he has a demon with the gift of foresight at his disposal.”
Tanner stiffened but hid his reaction with a joke. “Mom has been confused for a demon before.”
Sasha shook her head and glanced at Rhea, who rolled her eyes. It wasn’t a huge secret that Luna had visions. It was true that Luna could be mistaken for a demon. She can be a feral when she wants to be.
“I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Luna once. She is a force and no one would ever expect for her to be as powerful as she is.” Kasen ignored Tanner’s growl and continued. “Even though the demon described is female, I doubt they are talking about Luna. But there is one more thing the rebels mentioned.”
Alec raised a brow. “And that is?”
“Faelin’s mother was a powerful witch who dealt in old dark magick.” Kasen’s moved his gaze to Tanner. “And his father was Royce Raines.”
Sasha studied Tanner’s profile. They already knew about Royce being Faelin’s father. At least that was what the rogue bastard had said. They had guessed that Faelin’s mom was a witch, but Kasen was suggesting the mom was someone equal to Savannah’s—Felix’s mate and Sable’s mother.
Seeing movement from Alec, Sasha glanced down and noticed Alec had pressed his thigh to Tanner’s. A warning to keep calm. Something she should do because she was Tanner’s mate. Slipping her hand under the table, she placed it on top of his thigh. She felt a small amount of his edge ease. Then he moved his hand that rested on the back of her chair to grip her nape and began to message it.
Alec stood and held his hand
