my sweet Sid. Will you let me?”
I gulp. I need to tell her about Leviathan. Now is my chance. “She needs to be destroyed,” I blurt out.
Annabelle frowns at me. “Who?”
I take in a deep breath, knowing that she will feel me say her name out loud and crush me. I have to trust Annabelle to crush her back, once and for all.
“Leviathan,” I say steadily and then scream as the Demon rips through my conscious thoughts with a roar of thunder that forces me past submission and into unconsciousness.
Chapter 25
Annabelle
I stare down at Sid, writhing in pain on the bed, the sheer rage that builds up is making it difficult to breathe.
“You are dead, bitch,” I snarl in his face, hoping she can hear me. “I’m coming for you.”
Sid groans and curls up, turning his back to me. I want to stay and make sure that he is okay, but if I stay, I will only end up hurting him. Eradicating him even.
I flame out before the Shift takes me over. I land next to Leviathan’s cell, my wings already unfurled and flapping wildly in my anger.
Through the red haze that is rapidly descending over my eyes, I see the orb hovering in the middle of the cell. I hold my hand out. It explodes into a million pieces, releasing the bitch.
She lands on her feet, crouched down and stands up slowly, stretching out her body luxuriously with a vicious smirk on her face as she looks at me.
“It’s a start,” she drawls, stalking over to the bars of the cell. “Just one more step.”
“You are fucking deluded if you think you are going anywhere,” I grate out.
“Release me or I will keep tormenting that pathetic creature you have grown so fond of. He is as connected to me as I am to Hell. You can’t sever that. You have one choice if you want me to leave him alone.”
“No, I have two choices. Your way or my way and you will learn pretty fucking quickly that all ways in Hell are my way.”
“Hmm. Even if you kill me, I’ll still be here. Lucifer made sure that I would never leave him.”
“Too fucking bad for you then that Great-Gramps isn’t here, and I am,” I inform her before I stop fighting it and I Shift.
It starts with the back breaking, bone crunching agony before I lose every ounce of pain, every ounce of anything. All that is left is destruction.
My face changes shape, my jaw elongating to accommodate the goat’s head of my Devil form. My tail swishes out behind me, the pointed tip razor sharp, slashing out at the bars of the cage. I grew several feet in height and bulk out until I’m twice the size of my human form. My clothes are shreds hanging off me. A quick shake discards them completely as my cloven hooves scrape on the stone floor of the prison. The only thing that remains remotely the same are my hands, except my fingers are longer with talons like knives and dripping with poison which makes the Hellfire on my fingertips flare up every now and again.
I see Leviathan’s face pale as she licks her lips.
“Lucifer,” she mutters and then screams as I rake my claws over the bars of her cell, and they disappear under the magick.
She stands in front of me, trembling. I don’t bother looking over my shoulder to see if she means Lucifer is behind me.
Nope. She means that I am Lucifer and she finally gets that. It gives me all the information I need to give to my mother. When I’m through with Leviathan.
As I take a step forward, I lose the shred of rational human thought that lingered after the Shift.
I need to annihilate; I need to make this bitch suffer before I end her reign of terror once and for all.
She shrieks in agony as I grab her by her upper arms and fling her against the dark stone wall of the prison.
The sickening crunch echoes throughout the deep cavern as her bones shatter from the force of the blow. She slides down the wall as I stamp over to her, not giving her body a second to heal before I haul her off her feet and slam her against the wall again.
“Release him,” I grit out, the action of speaking in this form tearing my throat apart.
I ignore the taste of my own blood.
She laughs at me weakly, but the insult is clear. “Not
