back to the hotel or going to his place.
“Only if you let me get the next round,” I told him. That way, I wouldn’t owe him anything.
He grinned. “Deal.”
Owen ended up being a pretty good guy. We talked for about fifteen minutes, finishing our drinks, and he helped me keep my mind off Travis. A little.
I was ready to order us another round since it was my turn, but Owen asked, “Wanna dance?”
I looked behind me and didn’t see any of the people I’d come with. “Sure,” I told him.
We hopped off our stools, and I asked him, “Did you come alone?”
“No, I came with a friend, but he ditched me to dance with someone. What about you?”
“I came with some people. They’re all supposed to be dancing, too, but I don’t see any of them at the moment.”
“We can make our way around the room,” Owen offered, close to my ear now that the music was getting louder as we got closer to the dance floor. “Maybe we’ll find them.”
“Or they can come to us,” I said.
Owen laughed. “I like you. You’re smart.”
I shrugged and smiled like I was clever but really didn’t want to interrupt Vanessa and Trevon. Also, I really didn’t want to watch Travis dance with other women.
Thankfully, the music was fast, and I caught the beat right away. I had gone out to dance all the time when I was in college. I thought that was how I’d burned off the drinks I’d consumed back then. But I rarely went out to nightclubs anymore, which was a shame. Getting older was nice, but it also sucked in some ways.
Owen and I danced and mingled with the couple around us. Pretty soon, I forgot about Travis and no longer wondered what he was doing.
Out of nowhere, two arms wrapped around my middle and pulled me back against a tall, hard body. I was startled but only for a moment because I recognized Travis almost right away. I didn’t know if it was his smell or the way he felt, but I knew it was him.
“You were supposed to come and rescue me,” he said right next to my ear.
I tried to turn to look at him, but he had a tight hold on me. I leaned my head back on his shoulder. “I thought you were joking.”
He met my eyes. “I wasn’t. I came here to hang out with you, sexy. Not them.”
His words caused a warmth in my belly that spread throughout my body. I reached up and cupped the back of his head and pulled it down, so I could kiss him. If I’d thought about my actions, I wouldn’t have done it, afraid I was overstepping. So, I was glad I hadn’t thought about it because he did not hold back. He didn’t care if anyone saw us. His kiss made my toes curl.
“Travis,” someone shouted his name.
He lifted his head and looked around. I also turned my gaze in front of me.
“Hey, Sydney,” Jenna said. “We were wondering where you were.”
I studied her for a moment to make sure she wasn’t upset about me being in Travis’s arms, but she seemed normal.
“Yeah. I went to the bar. And I met Owen.” I looked around and saw Owen had moved away. Probably after Travis had approached. I motioned him over. “Hey, Owen, I found some of my friends.” I introduced him to Jenna and Travis.
“Come on, Owen. Let’s dance,” Jenna said to him.
Owen looked starstruck but managed to nod.
Travis slipped his hand underneath my shirt as we danced. His hand was like a brand on my belly. It was hot, and the heat was traveling down to my pussy.
I could feel his erection pushing against my ass. He hadn’t been hard when he first showed up, and I hoped that it was caused by his desire for me.
Travis put his mouth on my neck and kissed me there. His pecks turned into open-mouthed kisses that only made the need inside me get stronger. He felt so good; he could have taken me on the floor in front of all these people, and I would have gladly let him just to have him inside me again.
The song ended, and a slow ballad started. Travis spun me in his arms, and I wrapped my arms around his neck.
“I want to take you back to the hotel and fuck you. So badly.”
“Why don’t you take me then?”
