the bunch said. “Nice one.”

“Oh, it’s there, it just doesn’t stand out so easily. Must be the onyx color of the band, but it’s right here.” I wiggled the fingers of my left hand and elbowed Jake. “If you want a hot and single doctor, this is your man right here.”

“You’re fucking joking, right?” Jake grumbled in a whisper.

It didn’t matter how quietly Jake responded. These girls were tuned in and hanging on to every word.

“Well.” I smirked at Jake, “I would be fucking joking if you weren’t the best man at my wedding.”

Jake turned back to the women, and his eyes widened when he took in Barbie and the whole Vegas gang. “Wow, you must like the color red…” he stopped himself, and I smiled. “Sorry. I thought my friend was fucking with you until now. You really did match up your lipstick to that bikini.”

“You’re awfully blunt,” she snapped.

“It’s why he’s single,” I chimed in. “You see, he’s most likely already determining which one of you he’s going to take back to his room and fuck before he sends you on a walk of shame.” I met Jake’s humored eyes. “You know I’m one hundred percent accurate on that one.”

“There are plenty of women to back that up,” he stated factually.

I looked back at the woman in red. “Does that lipstick rub off?” I pinched my lips while her face that twisted up into the pissed-off look we’d pulled out of her by acting like dicks.

Jake held his hands up in innocence. “Hey, I’m just the single asshole.” Jake gripped my shoulder. “It’s Mr. Forever Guy who loves to cheat on his wife while we’re out…” He eyed me as if to show he’d just kicked the ball back into my court. “If you’re into the brilliance of a sexy brain surgeon,” he gulped his scotch, “this is your boy right here.”

“Then why would he wear a wedding ring?”

“It’s kinky,” I said. “I think chicks dig being home wreckers. Now, I’m curious as to how you’ll look with those red lips and no matching bikini.”

“Right,” Jake feigned curiosity. “Like, would it all work without the matchy-matchy?” he shrugged.

“Exactly.” I took a sip of gin, “Do the lips complement the bikini?”

“Does the bikini complement the lips?”

“Heels no heels?” I answered him.

“Maybe I do want to find out for myself too. You up for sharing after you find out?”

I held in my laughter. “I’m shocked you’re considering sloppy seconds this time.” I looked at Jake, both of us being dumbasses like we were known to be when we weren’t interested.

“You deserve first dibs. This conference was harder on you than it was me.”

“Truer words have never been spoken. I’ll text you when we’re done.” I glanced back to be confronted with deadly looks. “You still up for it, Barbie?”

“Let’s get out of here, Kimmy,” another girl said, but my attention was instantly diverted from the women on the prowl.

“They always say the hot ones are pricks.” I think it was Barbie who said that. I didn’t know or care. I was locked in on the gorgeous woman from earlier. I was fully absorbed as I watched her dance, swaying her hips fluidly in a flawless salsa style of dancing.

“Yeah,” I said in a dismissive tone while I glanced around Jake to keep my eye on the sexy woman. I gripped Jake’s shoulder. “Who the fuck is that on the dance floor?”

“The entertainment?” he answered, looking past the bar where we sat and out to the dance floor. “The hell if I know.”

“I’m about to go find out.”

Jake grabbed my arm. “Bad idea,” he said. “She was in one of my seminars. She’s off-limits.”

“The hell she is,” I said.

“Coll.” Jake looked at me as if I were crazy. “What the fuck are you doing? And give me my ring back, you jackass.”

I absently gave him the ring. “Remember when we learned salsa years ago?” I smiled at him. “I’m about to cash in on that shit.”

“That was a long ass time ago and in Florida, not Vegas.” He sipped his drink. “It was also to get those two Cuban princesses in their thong swimsuits to dance with us and—”

“And into our beds,” I finished his sentence. “Well, it looks like that was for the greater good because I’m about to put those skills to work.”

“You still think you have those moves?”

I nodded. “I’m about to find out if all that money in lessons paid off.”

“You’re a horny idiot. Pull your shit
