Mr. Mitchell Billionaires' Club Book 2 - Raylin Marks Page 0,185

“That’s certainly one way of looking at these fucked-up lectures.”

“Well, this whole conference is easily compared to the nightmare of our college years. What the fuck was this damn thing for anyway? Hell if I know anymore.”

Jake laughed. “My guess is a lesson to teach each medical professional about what others do for a living.” Jake leaned his elbows on the polished wooden bar. “So, OB 101, eh? Did you learn how to deliver a baby today?”

I laughed, slowly unwinding with each sip of gin. “Yes, and it’s a good thing I did.” I brought the rim of my glass to my lips. “So, when you knock up Ash for a second time, she can use me as her midwife, and I can help deliver your next child in your bathtub.”

Jake smiled. “The only in-home delivery you’ll be doing for Ash is when she calls for Chinese takeout.” He sighed. “Shit, this area is larger than I thought. Three fucking pools, waterfalls, palm trees?” He frowned. “Where are we, Tahiti?”

“I was actually looking for the exit to the beach when I walked out here,” I said. “Though it’s still not tempting enough to keep me here until morning.”

That’s when my eye caught the image of a vivacious and attractive young woman. She strolled out with a group of individuals, her beaming smile and the liveliness in her step instantly caught my attention, but it wasn’t a minute before she disappeared through the crowd that surrounded the multiple pools.

I had no business letting my mind go in that direction with a woman while at a medical conference after-party, but I couldn’t help but be taken aback when I saw her.

“Excuse me, gentlemen?” I was the first to look back and find a tall, hot blonde with bright red lips and a barely-there bikini, heading up a pack of what I quickly concluded were single women.

It didn’t matter how fucking hot they were. Jake and I had drawn a hard line in the sand when it came to fucking around with women at medical conferences. That had nearly cost us everything while we were interns.

“Yes,” I said, keeping the flirting at bay and smiling to be polite.

“We’re from the Institute of Science medical internship,” red lips started, “and we’re looking to enjoy the night after this long conference. Do either of you mind if we join you?”

Jake’s eyes met mine in warning, and this week had been such a disaster that I figured I might as well spice it up a little. My happily-married best friend was so in love with Ash that I didn’t think he even noticed hot chicks anymore. His wild days were in the past, and so it was up to me to shake things up a little. The bastard had put me through hell enough times, and so I enjoyed repaying the favor now and then.

“Join us?” I answered the blonde. I eyed her red bikini and red stilettos, and I figured that if there were a Poolside Vegas Barbie doll, it would’ve looked exactly like this woman. I had to give her credit, though. She’d matched up her outfit—if you could call it that—to her lipstick. “You must be complimented on how you’ve coordinated all this red.” I waved my hand toward her while the group of girls behind her giggled. “You’d make those hot chicks on Baywatch a tad bit jealous. I assume that was what you were aiming for?”

She laughed while Jake pointedly ignored the trap of women I’d been lured into. “Red is my favorite color,” she said. “So, you guys are okay with us hanging?”

“Son of a bitch.” I ran my hand through my hair. “I’m sorry. I almost forgot, and now I have to break your heart. You see, I’m married.”

Jake looked at me while I slid my left hand discreetly to him, and he quickly picked up on my need to borrow his wedding ring so I could get out of this. These were interns—young, hot, and trouble. Being best friends since childhood, Jake and I read each other as twins would. Though, he had no idea what I was really up to, which made this situation that much more enjoyable.

I slid his ring on while using the distraction of ordering another gin. What the hell, did they water the liquor down at this place? Cheap-ass medical group most likely asked to have it served up that way.

“I didn’t see a wedding ring on your hand,” the shorter redhead in
