Logan (Dad Bod Doms #1) - Golden Angel Page 0,15
one as soon as he came home from his camping trip.
The only excuse he had was she’d never needed a break before, but until three years ago, she’d only had one kid to contend with. Althea had been a little nugget the first year he’d gone away after she’d been born, Oliver had been getting more and more headstrong, and he’d forgotten last year, Anita had come to stay with Felicity while he was away. This year, it had been two kids to one parent for three days in a row, and that was hard.
Heck, it was hard just having two kids to one parent, getting everything together in the morning. He hadn’t realized how much work Felicity did every morning getting the kids ready before she ran out the door. Not that he slacked, once she was gone, and it was his turn, but he got to spend the first part of his morning doing his things on his own.
Trying to get ready for work with a toddler and a five-year-old crawling all over him was completely different, even though he was skipping the shower. He skipped shaving, too.
Feed the kids, get the kitchen clean, brush everyone’s teeth, say goodbye to Felicity, and get out the door. Just five things, but so much harder without the small overlap when he and Felicity were with the kids in the kitchen at the same time. He hadn’t realized what a difference that made, which made him feel even more guilty about leaving her alone.
Even though they were older and able to help more, Oliver and Althea were actually harder to wrangle now. Oliver was always getting into mischief, and Althea was always following him. Logan missed the days when at least one of them was in a carrier or a bouncy chair. Just the small taste of what Felicity’s weekend with them had been like was eye-opening.
It also made it possible for him to forgive himself a little. He really hadn’t realized how much the kids had changed nor appreciated how much of a handful they were.
“Have a good day,” he said when it was his turn to say goodbye to Felicity.
She gripped the front of his shirt after the kiss, looking up at him worriedly.
“I’m so sorry about last night. I… I shouldn’t have snapped like that.”
“No,” he agreed, “but I understand why you did. I did plenty of things I shouldn’t do either. Once I started telling Trish and Marie about the evening, it became very clear to me, I’d been an inconsiderate ass in pretty much every way possible. Our communication needs to be better, but that’s not all your fault, either.”
Felicity’s shoulders immediately relaxed, relief playing across her expression. She really had been worried. Logan pulled her into a hug.
“We’ll talk later. Just concentrate on having a nice, relaxing day, okay? I’ll see you later. I love you.”
“Love you, too.”
As far as getting his relationship back on track, maybe he wasn’t failing the Dad Bod Dom challenge as badly as he thought.
Felicity
The surprise was a trip to the spa.
Massage, facial, and mani-pedi, in that order. Felicity couldn’t remember the last time she’d had anything other than a mani-pedi. By the time she got to that part, she felt almost blissed out, she was so relaxed.
“So, is this what the doctor ordered?” Trish asked from her pedicure chair beside Felicity’s.
“More like what the Dom ordered,” Marie cracked from Trish’s other side.
“Ew, stop, I don’t need to hear that,” Trish complained, putting her fingers to her ears. They all knew she was doing it for show. While she would never ask for details about Felicity’s sex life, after hanging out with Felicity and her besties, there wasn’t much Trish and Marie didn’t know. It hadn’t bothered Trish any more than it interested her, but she was happy to complain for comedic effect.
“This is exactly what I needed,” Felicity admitted, watching the nail tech delicately paint her toenails a pretty shade of teal. “How much of this was your idea, and how much was Logan’s?”
Both of them laughed before Trish answered.
“He wanted to do something nice for you today and said he thought you should take the day off. I suggested the spa. He said we should go with you, although I wasn’t sure you’d want us around.”
“The lady time is much appreciated,” Felicity reassured her. “I mean, yeah, I need some me time, but I also need time with friends. Honestly… I haven’t really done anything for myself in…
