I’m ready to see my girl and find out how her appointment went. Harper told Zane earlier that they were all going to the hospital to be with Maren. I feel better knowing they are with Enzo, not some guy we don’t know much about.
We park outside the hospital and head inside. Zane asks at the desk where we can wait, and the woman looks like she’s going to shit herself looking around at us. I laugh walking up to the desk. “You’re good darlin’, we just need to check on a friend.” She nods and points us toward the elevators.
“Damn, she was ready to drop to her knees so I could slide my cock in her mouth,” Riley says, laughing.
“Oh yeah, that’s what you got out of her reaction?” I ask.
“Fuck yeah.”
“How the fuck are you still alive? I mean it fucking amazes me that you even know how to feed yourself,” I say, shaking my head. Everyone laughs as Riley flips me off.
The elevator opens and we step out. A short trip down an empty hallway leads us to the waiting room. I fucking hate hospitals. It reminds me of death or near death.
“Oh, thank fuck,” Harper says, rushing towards Zane. He catches her and slams his mouth to hers. Nora is sitting with Enzo. Adalyn and Maren are sitting together, holding holds. Gillian surprises me by sprinting to Riley. He grabs her and they share an unexpected intimate hug. I look around and notice Ivy isn’t here.
“Where’s Ivy?”
Everyone looks at me and then looks around like maybe I’m missing her. Harper is the one that speaks up. “She hasn’t been here. I tried calling but it went to voicemail. I’m guessing she went back to Souls to take a nap.”
Anger I haven’t felt in a while takes over. “And no one thought they should get off their fucking ass and go check?” I hiss.
“Woah, fucking relax,” Zane says, pushing my chest to get me to look at him. “There’s a lot of shit going on, we’ll call and make sure she’s there.”
I grab Finn by his cut, pulling him in front of me. “Call Lucas and make sure she’s there,” I growl.
He quickly pulls out his phone and dials. I run my hands through my hair while I wait to hear, glancing at Zane. He’s an asshole telling me to relax. If it was Harper who wasn’t here, he’d be throwing punches already. I look back to Finn who is still talking to Lucas.
“Well? Is she fucking there?”
Finn turns his back to me, and I laugh. I grab his cut and pull him toward me, ripping the phone away as I push him against the wall. “Don’t ever turn your back to me,” I yell. I press the phone to my ear and sigh. “Is Ivy at Souls?”
“No, I haven’t seen her since she left this morning for her appointment. I’m sorry man,” Lucas says.
I throw Finn’s phone at him and grab mine out of my pocket, looking around at everyone. “She’s not at Souls. I’m going to check the doctor’s office,” I say, dialing her number as I walk out of the waiting room.
The phone goes right to voicemail, so I call again and again. Each time it goes straight to voicemail. “Fuck!” I yell, walking outside.
“Kace, hey,” Riley yells, running to catch up to me.
“I’m not in the mood for your dumb shit right now.”
He hands me a lit joint and I take a long hit as we get to our bikes. “I’m going with you. No dumb shit,” he says, slapping my back.
As we start to pull out, Alex jumps on his bike and follows us. I want to appreciate them right now, but my head is fucking with me. What if there was a problem with the baby and the doctor sent her to another hospital? What if she passed out and hit her head? What if her phone died and she’s in trouble but can’t reach me?
The worries are endless, but when we reach the doctor’s office and I see her car I momentarily relax. I park on the passenger side and look in the car, but she’s not there. Riley and Alex park next to me and as I round the driver’s side of the car, I stop dead in my tracks. Her purse is on the ground and so is blood.
“Fuck,” I whisper, bending down to get her purse. When I lift it a picture falls to the ground that
