reason, Carlos has me in his future plans. Maybe I can play with that. He obviously craves my submission. Maybe I should give it to him.
His eyes widen as he sits on the side of the bed. This room is, by far, much better than the cell. The bed is nice and comfortable along with the rest of the room. But I need to remember what type of human this man is.
“As long as you obey, I’ll give you anything, mi Reina,” he tells me.
“Anything?” I ask.
“Well, almost anything,” he chuckles.
“I want to go outside before the pain meds wear off,” I say. “I just want to sit in the sunshine for a little while.”
Carlos looks at me as he considers my request.
“Alright,” he finally agrees. “But only for a few minutes. I have a ton of work to do to prepare for a party.”
I want to ask what party he’s talking about, but I honestly don’t want to know the detail.
“I’m going to go grab your chair,” he says before leaving.
“Rachel, what are you doing?” Sammy asks again.
I grab the blanket and easily toss it over my head. The numbing shot I received is starting to wear off and I can feel the tearing of my skin again.
“Carlos has carried me into this building twice now,” I start. “And each time he’s entered a code before the door unlocked to allow us is.”
“Brilliant fucking woman.” It takes me a second to recognize Trigger’s voice. “You get us that code and we’ll have our way inside.”
“I’ll be down in about half an hour,” Carlos says from the other side of the door. “Get everything ready.”
I pull my blanket back down and wait.
“People are so impatient,” Carlos says when he opens the door. “Alright. Let’s get you in this chair and out to some fresh air.”
I have to hide my disgust for the man as he lifts me and places me in the child-sized wheelchair. The chair is too small, and the armrests are digging into my side.
But I don’t complain.
“Remember,” Carlos starts. “We can’t stay outside for very long. But, if you continue to behave, I’ll take you outside again tomorrow.”
I nod my head.
Carlos pushes me down a long hallway and to an elevator that I don’t remember seeing on the way up to the room.
We go inside and he presses the down button.
“I like this side of you,” Carlos claims. “I think you might be coming around.”
I’ll let him think whatever he wants.
We make our way to the room where all the prison cells are and I want to scream as I see the little girls huddled close to each other behind one of the bars.
Carlos acts like nothing is wrong as he pushes me towards the door. He whistles a happy tune as he reaches for the keypad.
Seven…nine…four.
Crap I can’t see the rest, his body was in the way.
When he opens the door, I push my way past and outside.
“The view isn’t all that great here,” Carlos admits as we stop a few feet outside the door. “It’s a much more peaceful place at my family home. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll be able to go back.”
I nod but keep my mouth shut. Anything he says, I want Sammy and the others to hear.
“Once everything is settled here, we’ll travel to another home I own.”
“See if you can get him to say more, Miss Rachel,” Wolf says in my ear.
“Where is your other home?” I ask.
Carlos turns around and smiles. “I want it to be a surprise,” he tells me. “But I truly think you’ll love it. I’ve noticed that you feel uncomfortable around high-priced things. Our home is nothing fancy. Something simple and under the radar.”
“Is it nearby?” I ask. “Will I be able to see my sister?”
“It’s not too far,” Carlos admits. “But we’ll talk more about you seeing your sister a little further down the line.”
I nod. Fuck face.
“Good job, baby,” Sammy whispers. “You’re doing great.”
“We need to head back in, mi Reina. People are waiting for me.”
Carlos walks towards the door and I quickly turn and angle myself.
Seven. Nine. Four.
I lean over and focus on his hands.
Seven, nine, four, eight, three, two, nine.
The door unlocks.
I want to smile and shout to the world, but I turn my head and look towards the sky.
Seven, nine, four, eight, three, two, nine.
Don’t freaking forget, Rachel.
Seven, nine, four, eight, three, two, nine.
“Mi Reina, did you hear me?”
“I’m sorry. I was dazing,” I lie. “What did you say.”
“I asked
