won’t?”
“I don’t know,” Louis admitted.
Jaime growled something under his breath which Louis was sure was uncomplimentary, then he got to his feet. “Okay, stay there. This conversation needs strong coffee.”
He disappeared, and Louis stared out of the window again. The rain was endless and hadn’t let up for days. He hadn’t been on the bike since their five fabulous days doing the Cascade Loop. The first dry day he was going back out on the bike and taking Craig with him…if Craig was home.
The door opened again, and he turned to see Craig’s ass as he negotiated the door with a cup in each hand. His Daddy had the best ass ever. What was he doing here?
Craig turned to see where Louis was staring. “My butt?”
“It’s a very good butt,” Louis assured him.
Craig grunted and handed him a coffee. “Jamie says you need this.”
“He called you?”
“I was already here.”
Louis frowned. “Did we have a meeting? I don’t remember it in my planner.”
Since Jamie had become manager, Louis had realized just how much Jamie had done as his assistant to keep his day running smoothly. He really needed to employ another assistant, but his head wasn’t in the game at the moment, and he knew he’d end up with someone as unfocused as him. Maybe he should get Jamie to find him a new assistant.
Craig slumped into the brown leather couch in the corner of Jamie’s office and patted the cushion next to him.
“Where’s Jamie?” Louis asked as he joined him.
“He told me to spank your ass or he would.”
Louis stared at him over the rim of his cup. “He didn’t.”
“He did.” Craig grunted in satisfaction as the smooth brew went down.
Louis sighed. “I’ve been distracted.”
“About me going away?”
Trust his Daddy to reach the heart of the matter.
“I know I should be okay now. Carter’s in custody, and I’m safe.”
The fact that Dan Carter was responsible for his assault was something Louis was still trying to process. He’d been totally taken in by the young man.
“But you’re scared,” Craig murmured.
Louis nodded. “I feel like I have to look over my shoulder the whole time.”
CDR had scaled down his security operation. Louis knew that was logical, but having the men close to him had enabled him to breathe.
Craig swapped his cup to his other hand and put his arm around Louis and drew him close. “Come with me.”
“What?” Louis nearly dropped his cup in surprise.
“Come with me,” Craig repeated.
“But we’re both working.”
“I know that, but you can work anywhere and we’re only going for a week. You just need a phone and Wi-Fi.”
“I don’t want to gatecrash your business trip.”
Craig shrugged. “I’d already spoken to Liam and Quinn about it.”
Louis stared at him. “You did?”
“I didn’t want to leave you behind,” Craig confessed. “Quinn’s taking Cade because they’re going on vacation afterward. It’s the only time between Cade’s new art exhibition and recording the new album. And Zach Fyre and Josh Cooper want to meet you.”
“Why didn’t you say anything?” Louis felt somewhat indignant about the lack of communication.
Craig looked sheepish. “I didn’t want you to feel I was smothering you.”
Louis barked out a laugh. “We’ve really got to get the hang of this communication.”
“I know.” Craig dug into his pants pocket and handed Louis a folded sheet of paper.
Louis took it curiously and unfolded the paper. “I already know your flight details. CDR sent them to me.”
“Read it again,” Craig said.
Louis scanned the paper. “You booked flights for me?”
“I wanted you to be able to come if you wanted to. No pressure.”
“I don’t know what to say.” Louis’s hand shook.
Craig cupped his hand around Louis’s neck and drew him close. “Say you’ll come with me.”
“There’s a club in London—”
“Cade’s already told me about it,” Craig said. “We’ve booked reservations for the four of us. Quick and Cooper declined the invitation. They said they didn’t want us to feel restrained by being with people not in the lifestyle.”
“That was kind of them,” Louis said.
Craig’s grin was wicked. “I think it was too much even for Cooper to handle.”
“I can’t wait to meet Josh.” Louis chuckled at Craig’s glower. He’d heard a lot about Josh Cooper from the CDR teams, not all of it complimentary. They all agreed he was great at his job and a nightmare to work with at the same time. Louis really wanted to meet him.
The office door opened, and Jamie peered in cautiously. “Is it safe to come in?”
Louis chuckled and sat up, trying to smooth out his
