believed you did that," Jamis ground out, angry that she would think he did. "And just to be clear, you've had my attention ever since I saw you on the transport."
Cali continued to look at him for a moment, then tipped her head back and laughed, the tension leaving her stance. "You're full of shite, Star Base Commander. It was that Si female who held your attention on the transport. Now, I have thirsty customers waiting."
She looked to her wrist, and slowly he released it. She tapped the credit collector one more time with a finger before she turned away and said, "Don't forget to pay, Commander, or I'll have to ban you from The Brink too."
Saying nothing, Jamis tapped his credit chip on the collector. When it beeped, she picked it up and went back to work.

Jamis relaxed back in his chair and watched Cali work. She was fast, efficient, and didn't take shite from anyone, regardless of their size. She was fearless, and he couldn't believe how much that turned him on. The memory of how she felt pressed against him had him shifting in his chair and adjusting his hardening cock.
It still surprised him at how strong he'd come on to her in that shelter, given the circumstances. He'd never done that with any female before, never had to, and she'd refused him, but she was involved with Trudo. Well, she wasn't involved with him now, and Jamis was going to make sure he was the next male in her bed or his or against a wall. It didn't matter where it was as long as he got inside her.
He hadn't been this fixated on a female since… well, never. He knew there could never be a long-term relationship between them. She was Earthan, and he couldn't… wouldn't… invest his emotions in a female who didn't share his life span because it wouldn't just affect him. It would also affect Taarig as they had already agreed they would choose the same female for their Lalla. But that didn't mean he couldn't enjoy Cali for now.
Forcing his gaze from her, he took a closer look at the rest of The Brink. It was larger than he thought it would be, with seating areas set up in different configurations, a cleared area for those that wanted to move to the music. A raised level was along the same wall as the bar, obviously meant for the more important patrons. It wasn't that different from the bar in the military section, then he noticed the viewport, and his glass thumped down onto the bar.
He couldn't believe it. It had to be a dozen times larger than the one in his office. No wonder The Brink was such a popular place. You not only had a view of the stars but there in the distance was the faint red glow of the Bix homeworld.
How had he not known it was here?
Leaning forward, he lifted his empty glass and jiggled it, the remaining sphere clinking against the sides quietly, but it was enough to catch Cali's attention.

Cali had been doing her best to ignore Jamis’s intense gaze and what was stirring up inside her. It should have irritated her. Instead, it had her nipples tightening and her channel clenching in need.
She'd been around strong, powerful males all her life, and none of them had ever affected her this way, but then again, none of them were Jamis Dexxirs. There was something about the male that did it for her.
Taarig Ynn, too, for that matter, but in a different way.
Still, it pissed her off that Jamis had taken Nox's word over hers, yet it shouldn't. She'd been around long enough to know how the system worked. She'd also caught the gleam in Jamis’s eyes when she outlined her response and how it would affect Nox.
To say she'd been surprised then to see him sitting at her bar tonight was an understatement. At least he'd worn one of his standard uniforms instead of his formal one. This one only had the crystals of his rank along the collar. The formal one would have crystals emblazoned across his chest, representing all his achievements and citations along with his rank at the collar. He didn't stand out as much in this uniform, but slowly his presence was noticed. A distance was forming between him and everyone else at the bar.
Even with the distance between them, and the bar’s
