evened the field by giving him a tap on his ass. She found she enjoyed their banter.
It was like having twins. What you did for one, you did for the other. She placed a kiss on Xeon’s shoulder then another on Kyro’s. They both smiled at her. God, she loved their smiles. Her heart raced, thinking about last night.
“Want some coffee?” Xeon offered her a mug.
“I always want coffee.” She took the cup he held out to her. When she turned to head to the coffee maker, Kyro waited with the coffee pot in hand.
“Breakfast is ready. I’ll fix the plates. You just have a seat.” Xeon grabbed three plates out of the cabinet.
Mara wasn’t used to being waited on. It would be easy to get used to it. Maybe they would cook in nothing but an apron. That would be fucking hot.
“How do you two feel about aprons?” she asked when Xeon placed a plate in front of her.
“I’m not wearing anything with frills or ruffles,” Kyro shook his head, sitting at the table with his plate.
“Me neither.” Xeon set a plate of bacon and eggs in front of her and then sat on her other side.
“I can find some manly ones. Maybe you can use them when you cook breakfast one day.” She suggested and took a bite of her bacon. He cooked it just the way she liked. The crispy bacon snapped between her teeth.
“Maybe one day.” Xeon ate a spoonful of eggs.
Mara may have been seeing things, but she swore she saw Xeon wink at Kyro. She smiled at them, hoping they would take her suggestion into consideration. Over breakfast, they told her about meeting with the alphas from the different packs in the area.
She had no idea there were so many shifters around here. Dr. Phenix had a whole playing field filled with possible victims. How did he get his hands on all these shifters? As far as she knew, shifters had hyper senses. They weren’t easily snuck up on like she had been the morning she’d a flat tire. A shifter would have seen it coming a mile away.
“What’s wrong?” Xeon must have noticed her change in moods.
“Nothing, just thinking,” she replied and ate her last bite of eggs.
“If the food isn’t hitting the spot, I have something that will.” Kyro held out his arm to her. “You know you want it.”
Take it. The voice inside Mara’s head became excited.
Mara shook her head. “No, I got my fix last night. I don’t want to get addicted. I can see how easy it would be with blood as delicious as yours.”
“You can have as much as you want.” He held his wrist closer to her.
“Thanks, but I would rather feed the demon on my terms.” She commented and put her fork down.
“Vampire, not a demon.” Xeon pointed out.
We’re so much more. The voice laughed.
“What are you talking about?” Mara blurted out.
“It was vampire DNA, not demon,” Xeon answered the question she meant for those in her head.
“Yeah, as far as we know. Who knows what that psycho did to me?” Mara pushed her plate away.
“I think you’re perfect, no matter what type of DNA is in your body.” Kyro smiled at her.
“That makes two of us.” Xeon agreed. “I know something that will make you feel a little better. Raveena is coming by in a bit to bring some clothes for you. Just until we get you to your house.”
“Raveena?” Mara asked and looked at them.
“Raveena is one of our pack mates. She’s about your size and has a shopping addiction. She has closets full of clothes, some with the price tags still on,” Kyro explained. The doorbell rang.
“There she is now.” Xeon stood from the table and took their plates to the sink.
Mara looked down at her clothes. The only thing she was wearing was Xeon’s T-shirt. She didn’t want to meet someone half-naked. She didn’t even have panties on. When she stood, she tugged her shirt down over her ass. While Kyro went to the door, Mara ran off to the bedroom for the pajama pants she wore the night before. She was only gone a minute, but by the time she came back into the living room, Raveena had already come in and stood beside the couch with bags in her hands.
“Hi!” Raveena’s eyes lit up with excitement when she noticed Mara. “You must be Mara. I’m Raveena Sheppard. Oh, you’re going to love what I got for you.” Raveena set the
