I think all that talking myself into letting him go was actually working, as it wasn't that hard to forget about him for the moment.
Eventually I did go downstairs to watch TV with Stazi, so maybe I did have a guilty conscience about Ryan. He was sitting on the easy chair across from Stazi as she was spread out across the whole sofa. I didn't feel much like sitting on the floor so I sat on the easy chair on the edge at first, but Ryan moved over so I settled down next to him and pulled the lever to put the feet up.
"Now isn't this cozy?" he asked me as he stretched out.
"Mm-hmm."
"Huh?" Stazi asked.
"What? I didn't say anything."
"Oh, I thought you did."
She went back to watching her show, which she was so very engrossed in, something about sharks. Stazi would watch any kind of National Geographic special. I sat there staring blankly at the TV with Ryan, suddenly realizing he was entirely focused on me.
"What?" I whispered.
"I'm not losing you am I Lu?"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, we're still friends right?"
I nodded yes.
"I'm not losing you?"
I shook my head no, kind of confused as to how he meant losing me exactly. "Not yet anyway."
"What do you mean?"
"I don't really know what you mean to say for sure what I mean."
"What the hell Lucy, shut up over there," Stazi shouted, throwing a pillow at me.
"Fine, I'm leaving," I stood up slamming the footrest back down and wandered to the kitchen to find something to eat. Why is it there is never anything to eat?
"Stazi, where are mom and dad?" I shouted out to her.
"I don't know, but they said to eat without them!"
"There's nothing here to eat! Want me to order something?"
"Ok! Why don't you come back out here so I can stop shouting at you!"
I grabbed the menu to Jon's place and went back out. "Feel like pizza? Cheese steaks?"
"Cheese steaks, yah!"
"Okay."
"Can you pick it up, because I'm really into these sharks."
"Yeah, I'll get it."
"Of course you will," Ryan chimed in. "Any excuse to see Jon."
"Shut up," I told him without thinking.
"I didn't say anything. You're acting really weird today."
"What? No I'm not." I went to call in a couple of cheese steaks and headed out directly to Jon's pizza place. I had an uneventful walk over, and luckily I was able to steal Jon for a few minutes when I got there, as there weren't any orders up after mine.
"So this is a nice surprise."
"Yeah, I needed an excuse to come see you again. What are you doing after work?"
"I was just going to go home. Why, do you want to do something?"
"Yeah, let's go to the movies or hang out or something. I just can't stop thinking about you, I've become a Jon addict."
"Really? Well, we walked over here so I don't have my car, but I could run home to grab it then come pick you up."
"That sounds good."
"Okay, well you figure out what you want to do and I can be at your house around 10:15?"
"Okay, good I'm so glad." I was practically giddy at the prospect of seeing him again later. This is so not like me. "Well, I better go get these home before they get cold." I gave him a big one-armed hug trying not to squish my dinner and took a deep breath in to smell his skin. He smelled like fresh shampoo and pizza. I gave him a quick kiss, said "Bye", and headed on home walking on sunshine.
Stazi and I ate watching TV; Ryan was no longer sitting on the recliner with me but moved himself to lie on the floor. We continued to spend the night like that until Jon knocked at the door. I didn't want to deal with Ryan's weird mood with Jon in the same room so I didn't invite him in; I just grabbed his hand and led him back to his car.
"So," he asked. "What are we doing?"
"Movies I guess, there is a new cheese ball horror movie that starts at 10:45."
"Cheese ball horror it is." He drove off to the theater and we got our tickets and a soda. We picked a seat in the very back far corner and proceeded to make out through most of the movie. Then he drove me home and we made out in his car for a while before I finally forced myself out. He walked me up to the porch and we made
