control of your army.” I cocked my hip to the side and sneered, knowing that it didn’t take much for my brother to be intimidated.
But instead of relenting like I thought he would, he threw back his head and laughed. “Come on, Zaniah. Did you really think that would work? You waltz in here, half naked and tell me that you are taking control of my army? Why would I ever agree to that?”
Pearl plopped down on the couch next to him and crossed her legs, a smug-ass look on her face. Damn it, if we had time I’d slap that shit right off. I really thought I may do it anyway.
“Because you have some brains in that fat head of yours.” I retorted.
He laughed again, this time louder, and even made a show of holding his stomach. Ha, ha, little princess sister was so funny. Gods, I wanted to kick his balls into his throat. “You saw what happened last time, right? Besides, we already defeated the Sirens.”
It was my turn to laugh, Caspian joining me. Poor Kai didn’t know what the hell was going on. At this point, I was sure he was just happy to be alive. “You fucking imbecile. So, who was it that killed our father?” That sobered his stupid ass up quickly. “You saw his head. Saw that he was lifeless, obviously, and then proceeded to name yourself king. So that what, you could hole yourself up here and... hole up in this bitch?” Pearl didn’t even try to defend herself. “You know that Aliz is the one who beheaded our father. And she’s still down there with her own army, ready to attack anyone that tries to take the kingdom from her. Hell she is ready to kill anyone that comes close until she finds the one that killed Baltic. But guess what? She’s not even our real enemy. I don't even know why I’m telling you all of this. You’re a fucking coward. You always have been and you always will be. You’ve been hiding like a stone fish, just waiting to implode. A great fucking king you’ll make.”
Llyr got up and stomped his way over to me so that he looked down to my face. “You’re the one fucking hiding, Princess. You have all this power and yet, you don’t use it.”
“Me?” I sputtered out a laugh. “You have an army at your disposal. You could swim down there, take out Aliz, and reclaim the throne. But here you are, whoring around.”
My turn to be hypocritical.
“You two, with all due respect, are acting like two petulant children.” Kai interrupted us, moving beside us, and squared off his shoulders, like he was barely containing himself, but I knew better. He was trying to keep his hoity-toity Bloodsworn act up. “You need to knock it off. We have a common enemy. We are on the same side.”
Doubtful.
“Go on,” Llyr said, darting a glare at me.
“Aliz is just some pathetic Siren. Beneath the title and the stories we’ve been told, that’s all she is, just a Siren.” Kai managed to send Caspian a dagger of a glare in between sentences. The Siren appeared bored, as per usual. “Our real enemy is Raven.”
“Raven? We still don’t know if she’s our half-sister, what information did you find out?”
For the record, it was incredibly hard to take my brother seriously given the fact that he was naked from the waist up, and even then, the only thing that covered his junk was a pale pink blanket.
“She’s more powerful than we know, or knew. She attacked me in a classroom yesterday. If what Father told Kai is true, then her dark powers come from her link to Hades, just like my powers come from our hunter mother mixed with Poseidon.”
My brother stumbled backward as though I had physically hit him. His knees buckled as he hit the couch, fell onto it and almost lost this blanket. “You think she is the heir.”
“How else could she be that powerful? Yeah, she’s got a stronger link to gods than even we do, and it shows. We think the powers flow through the females of the generation. That’s why Father had none and you have none.”
“I don’t… why did Father keep us in the dark?”
“I don’t know, and honestly, we don’t have time to think about it. She’s watching us, Llyr. She’s planning and plotting and she’s three steps ahead of us. And now, she knows that Kai is here too.
