surged through him. “What the fuck?! Why am I just hearing about this now?”
“I don’t know. You didn’t ask?”
“Was he there to see Sage or Steele?”
“Both, I think.”
Fuck that. He stood and began stripping off his coveralls.
“What’re you doing?” Sledge asked.
“What does it look like I’m doing?” He grabbed his keys and helmet and headed out the door. He was going to get his woman back.
He made it to The Cave in record time. Tiny took one look at his face and immediately opened the gate. Smart kid.
Ink and Steele were in the hallway as he stormed past.
“’Bout time you showed up! She just went down to her bedroom,” Steele called after him. He held up his middle finger, and Ink and Steele’s laughter followed him down the stairs.
Sage was on her bed with a book in her hands. Her blue eyes met his angry glare and her jaw dropped. She was clearly surprised to see him standing there. Did she wish it was Luca? The thought made his lip curl.
She sat up, her voice cracking as she stammered, “Alex! What are you doing here?”
He gave her a withering look. “Were you expecting someone else, like Luca?”
“What?” she sputtered, her eyes growing bigger.
“How many times has he visited? Was he here, in your room?” He scanned the room for signs of the fucker but didn’t see any.
Her head jerked as if he’d slapped her. “No, Luca wasn’t here! Why would you ask me that?”
“He wasn’t here at all, or he wasn’t in your room?”
Face turning red, she snipped, “What is your problem? I haven’t seen Luca since Mexico.”
Her denial flowed like ice water through his veins, squelching his rage. Sledge had played him. Fucker. Changing course, he said, “You’re not moving.”
Her mouth opened, then closed, her blue eyes flashing with anger. “I can’t raise Petal in a motorcycle club.”
“No, but you can raise her with me.” Before she told him no, he added, “The house is huge. Petal can have the entire upstairs. Hell, she can have the whole house, just as long as you say yes.”
Surprise colored her face. “Are you . . . asking us to move in with you?”
“Yes,” he replied without hesitation.
“You’re nuts.”
His mouth kicked up into a smile. “You’re just figuring that out now?” He closed the door and locked it, then he took a step in her direction.
Her breath hitched, the raw hunger in her midnight depths drawing him closer.
He stepped again, his cock pulsing inside his jeans, aching for the release that only she could give.
Her tongue darted out and swept across her bottom lip, bathing it in moisture.
Another step—and he had his fly open.
Desire shimmered in her gaze as she stared at his crotch like a starving woman.
One more, small step—and his pants hit the ground, his erection springing free. He was close enough to touch, but it was her move to make. C’mon, baby, make a move.
Her blue-eyed gaze slowly moved from his cock to his face, her mouth melting into a smile. She reached for him, and he pounced. A squeal shot from her lips as he pulled her off the bed and into his arms. His mouth hit hers, and a tortured sound ripped from his throat. He’d gone a whole week without her and it had been complete hell. Never again.
Chapter Twenty
SAGE HAD SPENT one week without Alex. Seven days pining for his smile, his company, his touch. Talking to the therapist had helped her to see that she was painting him with the same brush as Gibbs, and it wasn’t fair. He hadn’t cheated, nor had he lied. Not really. He was only trying to protect her. She’d overreacted, but not without good cause.
By the middle of the week, Steele, Taz, Ink, and Sledge had sought her out, each explaining their version of why she needed to give Alex a chance. Ink’s was by far the best. He wanted her to please take Alex back so he would quit acting like a whiney bitch and ruining all their fun. If Alex hadn’t shown up today, then she would have gone to him.
“I missed you.” The deep, raspy sound of his voice made her insides quiver.
Even though she’d missed him more than she could ever express, she was glad she’d taken the time to sort herself out. She still had a long way to go, but at least she was on the right track. “I missed you, too. I just . . . needed to figure some things
