didn’t remember the lost cub and hadn’t put two and two together. He shot off a quick reply to travel safe and they’d see them then.
The remainder of the weekend went by fairly quickly and uneventfully. Declan took Sean for a run with Tara and Ronnie, giving them the chance to roughhouse together. He’d never seen Tara’s wolf before then and found it surprising that despite her being so slender and short as a human, her wolf half almost gave Sean and Declan a run for their money in their tiger forms. It sparked a memory of meeting a similar white wolf at one of the annual shifter gatherings. If he wasn’t mistaken, they were about a couple hundred miles north of them. He brought up his theory to Victor when they returned to the house and it wasn’t long before Victor located what he already knew.
“Their name is The Farkas Pack. The alpha is Andras Veres.” Victor handed a picture of a little girl to Declan. The one in the picture looked just like Tara, only younger. “Do you wish me to contact them?”
“Not yet,” Declan said. “Let me speak with Tara.”
Victor dipped his head in acknowledgment. “Also, your mate… he is very kindhearted, Alpha, yet I can sense the strength in him.”
“More than he will ever see in himself, Victor. His ability to survive all those years shows just how strong he is.”
“Casey Asher, the brother of Alpha Luthor, he is a Seer.”
Declan nodded. “You heard the same as Sean did.”
Victor had the grace to appear guilty. “I did, Alpha. Are there any ideas on what or who we should be prepared for?”
Sighing, Declan ran a hand over his face. “I don’t really know yet. I’ve heard nothing from the other shifter clans. No rumors or gossip. The only thing we can do until they or it shows their hand is stay vigilant. Sean is to go nowhere without you or me. No one should go anywhere alone either.”
“Can we afford to keep the patrols further out right now?” Victor asked, reminding Declan of his recent changes because of Sean and the others.
“For now, we’ll continue with the patrols to the outskirts until we find out more information about this force Casey mentioned.”
“As you wish.” Victor left the office then leaving Declan to his thoughts.
Declan only remained downstairs for a short while later before heading up to bed where he pulled Sean close. Thoughts of what evil could be coming chased one another round and round in his head. Whatever happened, he’d protect Sean and the streak at all costs. But in order to keep Sean safe, he’d also have to stay safe. He wouldn’t let anything happen to his mate. It took another couple of hours until he actually fell asleep.

Sean
When Sean woke on Monday, he found himself rather looking forward to attending school with the others and learning. Declan escorted him and the three girls to the same building they’d gone to last week. “Don’t leave here unless Victor or myself are here to pick you up,” Declan instructed them.
“Why?” Sam asked with a frown. Sean hadn’t told her or Tara about the conversation he’d overheard. He didn’t want to upset them in case nothing actually happened.
“Until you’re more comfortable with getting around, I’d rather you let one of us guide you.”
Sean saw Declan glance at him and give him a very minute shake of his head. He didn’t want them knowing about the potential danger yet either. They entered the building and Clarissa met them all in the front room this time. She smiled brightly and greeted all of them. “I’ve brought in another streak member to assist with my regular classes until we can assess where you’re at and what needs to be our primary focus. Why don’t you all follow me?”
Declan caught Sean’s hand before he could trail behind the others and tugged him into a firm embrace. Sean hugged him back tightly before pulling away. “I’ll see you later,” Declan said before turning and stalking out the door.
Sighing, Sean turned and spotted Clarissa waiting for him at a door further down the hallway. He hurried forward and she gestured for him to precede him into the room. “Sit wherever you’d like, please.”
Sam and Tara helped Vicky to a small table with chairs nearby and sat on the floor next to her. Sean chose to sit near them. He felt uncomfortable because he really couldn’t read. Sam and Tara would have taught him,
