can help him. As far as his injuries, I can’t wait to get the handcuffs off him so he can heal. His pain is palpable.
Time goes by and another meal is delivered. More time. And just when I think we’ll get fed again, the door opens and we’re yanked to our feet by Realdo and Mya. They drag us from the room. The lights are bright as we walk through a building or house. I’m not quite sure where we are. There is an abundance of closed doors we pass. I have to wonder how many others are being held here.
The long hallway finally opens up to a massive living room. There are two overstuffed chairs and four couches. At the far end of the room is a tall, stone fireplace. I do my best to catalogue everything I see. When we make it to freedom, I’m coming back here and taking Realdo and Mya down. I’ll gut them and make sure they never harm anyone again.
Standing in front of the fireplace with his back to us and his hands clasped behind him is a male with jet-black hair slicked back with an excess amount of product. He’s in a suit that appears tailored to his body. It cuts in on his waist and the bottom of the slacks hit the top of his polished leather shoes.
“Mr. Allen,” Realdo greets. “I present you with the brothers.” Realdo grips both Caid and me by the backs of our necks and thrusts us forward. We’re no match for him in our current state. I’m weak, completely drained of energy. That doesn’t mean my mind isn’t running fast to try and find a way out of this. I scan the walls and the furniture looking for something to use as a weapon if I somehow manage to break free.
Mr. Allen turns. His eyes so light blue they almost appear clear. The shape of his nose and the cut of his jaw are all too familiar. It takes every ounce of my willpower not to react to seeing Irus in front of me.
He looks me up and down then does the same to Caiden. A sneer curls his lip. If I didn’t know Irus as I do, I’d think it’s authentic. “This is what you bring me?” he asks with disgust as he waves his hand in our direction. “I thought I was getting powerful brothers. They’re broken and bruised.”
“That’s the handcuffs,” Realdo rushes to say. “As soon as they’re off, they’ll both heal. I assure you; you’re getting my two best paranormals.”
Irus comes forward and does a slow lap around the two of us. “I think you could have done better. These males are nothing special. For the price you’re asking, I expected a higher quality.”
“If they don’t meet your standards, you can return them for a full refund.”
“I want to see them healed. These products are subpar in their current state.”
“I can’t do that.”
“Then, I’m leaving. The fact that you won’t even display them as you should tells me you’re hiding something, and I don’t like cheats,” he hisses.
Realdo jerks me and Caiden aside to come stand between us. “Cheats? I have never been called such a thing. I have many clients who can attest to what I offer.”
Irus steps up and gets into Realdo’s personal space. “Did you forget who I am?” Irus’ eyes narrow.
“N-no, I d-didn’t.” I wonder what Irus told Realdo to cause such a reaction. I have to force myself to keep from chuckling.
“I’m here for them. I altered my schedule to visit you and inspect what you’re offering, which is nothing I want.” Irus lifts his fingers to snap and teleport.
“Wait!” Realdo calls out. He holds his hand out to Mya, who produces a set of keys. “I’ll unlock one. The one with less power. You’ll see after a shift how he looks when healed.”
Irus crosses his arms. “You’re a fool to think you can abuse those in your care then try to sell them for full price.”
“It was to get their submission. I couldn’t risk them escaping.” He reaches behind me and unlocks my handcuffs. I flex my wrists, finally free of the binding. “If you move one hair out of line, I’ll kill your brother,” he whispers harshly to me. To prove his point, he walks over to Caid and produces a long, sharp blade that he presses to my brother’s throat. Blood begins to pool on the edge as it digs into his skin.
