back into the office. For once, both of them were working hard, and they looked startled by the fact that I had walked in like a hurricane.
“Who is looking for her?” Frances asked.
“I don’t know the wolves that this douche bag called in,” I said. “They were all over town. One of them came up to me in the bar and showed me a picture of her.”
“Do they think that she’s kidnapped?” he asked.
“I don’t know. Missing or running away, it doesn’t matter. There are other wolves in town, and they are aware of it, and they were questioning us."
“Don’t sweat it,” Jacob said. “It just means that we have to keep her under wraps for a while.”
“What if she wants to go outside?” Frances asked. “What if she wants to post on social media?”
“I’m sure we could find a way to control these things,” Jacob said as he glanced at the clock. “One of us should be home with her at all times.”
“I volunteer,” France said at once, but Jacob stood up with a shake of his head.
“I’m going,” he said. “I’ve been here the longest this week anyway. You guys come home when you are done, OK?”
“Spoilsport,” I said as I sank into my chair. When he was gone, Frances turned to me.
“Do you know which wolf it was that was giving you trouble?”
“I don’t,” I said. “He’s called in a bunch of new animals.”
“Great,” Frances replied. “Just what we need in our town.”
“They’ll go away,” I replied. “You know wolves; they can’t pay attention to something for long.”
“Which I suppose is why Jenny was in the position she was in the first place,” he replied. “You think Jacob is going to sleep with her right now?”
“Not tonight,” I replied. “But if we don’t stay on top of our game, he just might beat us to the punch.”
Frances went back to work and he didn’t say anything. I could practically hear his thoughts, though, even as he typed swiftly at the keyboard.
I needed a game plan or my brothers were going to beat me to the gorgeous woman that was somehow stopping me from sleeping with other women. I was sure that it wouldn’t be long, either, knowing how they worked.
I tried to focus on my emails, but my mind was back home. What was Jacob doing? Was he trying to get in her pants? Was she even wearing pants or did she still have on that short skirt from before? That was the hottest thing I had ever seen.
This was a game that I had never played before, but I had to admit, I was eager.
Chapter Twelve
Jacob
It was a week later that I finally saw my opportunity. We had agreed to take turns staying home, which Jenny seemed to appreciate. We had also told her about the fact that the wolves were roaming the area, and we wanted to keep her safe.
That wasn’t entirely a lie. The wolves were roaming the area, and we wanted to keep her safe, but it wasn’t something that we were actively worried about. Our security system was amazing, and if the wolves so much as stepped foot on our property, we would know. It was actually such good security that innocent shifters that weren’t associated with any pack and didn’t end up doing anything wrong were sometimes apprehended. I wasn’t so naive as to think that all shifters were a disaster, but I didn’t think that wolves on the whole were good people.
Jenny didn’t question our motives, which was very interesting to me. I wondered if part of her just knew what was going on and didn’t want to face it. However, I wasn’t going to get into the psychology of it. If she didn’t willingly bolt out the door, then that was great.
“All right,” I said to her when she came down dressed in yet another irresistible dress. “What do you want to do today?”
“Don’t you have to work?” she said. I was regretting buying her all those adorable dresses. I normally wasn’t into fashion, but I chose outfits that made me feel like I was a melting puddle of desire.
I could kid myself and say I kidnapped her for the good of everyone, but the truth was, I kidnapped her to have sex with her, and my brothers knew it. I’m sure they did it for the same reasons.
The fact that Jenny was staring into my eyes right now with some sort of interest as to what I was
