I definitely am.”
“Of course,” I said. While his question surprised me, it definitely hadn’t changed the mood for me. In fact, I was glad he asked. My ex-boyfriend never seemed to care much about those kinds of things and it could be stressful for me.
“Good.” He thrust into me in one fluid motion, causing me to cry out and arch my hips up into him. He felt so good that I squirmed against him, desperate for him to start moving. In and out he went, faster and faster, working up the pressure in my abdomen that was just asking to be released. He helped it along, one thumb rubbing over my clit to bring me to the brink of orgasm even faster.
I came a few seconds before he did, and then he slowed down and pulled himself from me, flopping down sweating onto the bed next to me before he pulled me close to his body. I was limp as a rag doll lying against his chest, still coming down from the high of my orgasm.
“And now, the obligatory cuddle before we go again,” he whispered in my ear, making me laugh.
I nuzzled his neck. “Sounds good.”
Chapter Six
Grayson
I had been planning to go over to say hi to Serenity when my phone rang in my pocket. I took it out and looked at the contact name, confused.
It was my company, which meant that something very serious had to be going on. They had been instructed not to disturb me unless absolutely necessary, as I wanted to spend this vacation relaxing instead of having to worry about work for once, but I guessed that this peace had been too good to last.
“What is it?” I demanded, picking up the phone, unable to keep the resentment out of my voice.
“It’s urgent, sir,” my assistant Ryan said.
“What’s urgent?” I snapped. I didn’t like it when people didn’t get to the point immediately. My time was valuable, after all, and Ryan should have known that.
“We’re having a bit of a situation down here,” Ryan explained. “It would be easier to go over the details in person, but we need you back.”
“Is it the stockholders?” I asked, exasperated.
“Partly, sir.”
I sighed. “Great, just great. What else is going on?”
“We think, umm, someone might be leaking our plans to our rivals. We need you to figure out how we should go about security from now on.”
“Really? A bug? This is the absolute worst.”
“I’m truly sorry, sir. If we could have dealt with the situation ourselves then I wouldn’t have called you, but this has the potential to be catastrophic and we need your input on our plan.”
“I know, I know, don’t worry about it. I’m just a little frustrated.”
“That’s understandable, sir. It was about time that you had a vacation. I’m sorry I had to be the one to end it, but this really can’t wait.”
“Well, at least I got a couple of days in. Maybe next decade, I’ll get a week. I’ll grab my things and arrange to be down there tomorrow—will that be soon enough?”
“Yes, sir. We’ll prepare for your arrival.”
“Good. I expect to have a full report of everything that is happening on top of my desk tomorrow morning. Understood?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Fine. Then I will see you tomorrow,” I said, hanging up and sliding my phone back into my pocket. I sighed—of course this would happen now. It was so unlike the universe to give me any kind of peace without a hazard like this waiting around the corner.
But…there could be a silver lining to this, if I twisted things into the right position. I smiled to myself, mentally arranging the pieces in my head. If I played my cards right, then this little trip back to LA could still be something of a vacation after all.
I headed over to the Allens’ house just as I had planned, only now it was for a different reason. I would have to inform them of the fact that I would be leaving early and set my plan into motion.
I knocked on the door and Sebastian answered, greeting me with a wide smile. “You’re late,” he said, pulling me into a tight hug. “I was beginning to wonder if you were coming.”
“I got caught up,” I said, shutting the door behind me. “Work. I’ll explain it in a second, but I have to go back to LA.”
“So soon?” he asked, his eyebrows coming together in a confused expression.
“Unfortunately.” I sighed. “Something catastrophic is going on with the company
