she got back, but as a paralegal, that was always the case. And no doubt she’d get in trouble. But it wasn’t as if Noah could fire her. Not without it being a whole thing.
Everything was always a thing with Noah.
Faith shook her head a little. She really did have to break up with him. Of course, she’d said that before.
The thing was, she was starting to get a little worried that maybe she was actually falling for him.
And that was a problem.
With a sigh, Faith spun on her heel and headed back in the opposite direction.
The moment she walked into the office, a tingle traveled down her spine. She turned to the left, and sure enough, Noah leaned against his office door, watching her. As soon as her eyes met his, he winked and nodded his head at her.
She couldn’t help but giggle and, as annoying as it was, especially to herself, Faith turned away from her office and walked toward him.
“Mr. Simmons, can I talk to you for a moment?”
“Of course, Miss Turner.”
He held his arm out, welcoming her into his office, and smoothly shut the door behind him.
Faith walked straight ahead, and looked out the picture window in front of her. The moment she heard the door click shut behind her, Faith took a deep breath.
She turned slowly, determined to tell Noah exactly what she should have told him months ago.
Faith was barely facing him when Noah’s hands were on hers. And then, everything was out the window.
“You are so sexy.” He kissed her hard and without hesitation, she was on him, pressing him back into the door and returning every inch of the kiss.
They crashed hard into the door and it vaguely registered that everyone in the office outside would have been able to hear that. She should have cared more than she did. Hell, she should have cared at all.
But when Noah kissed her—no, when he touched her, hell…when he looked at her—she lost all care and consideration about anything at all. Anything but him. And the way he made her feel. And that was the real reason why she hadn’t broken up with him.
Her morals wouldn’t let her end it over the phone or via text. And because she couldn’t be alone with him long enough to tell him what she was feeling, let alone remember what she was feeling, they were still…doing whatever it was that they were doing.
And whatever it was that Noah was doing with his tongue on her neck… “Hmmm. That feels so good.”
“You feel good, baby.” His hands slid down her body and to the hem of her skirt, where they paused, but only for a moment. His touch on her bare skin caused a fire low in her belly. His hands slipped up her thighs, pushing her skirt up as they moved.
There were so many reasons why they shouldn’t do what they were about to do, but Faith didn’t care. Not enough to stop it. Her fingers found the zipper of his pants and released him into her hand. He groaned as she stroked the length of him, and then there was no going back.
Not like there was before.
Not like there ever was.
Noah lifted her easily, pushed her panties to one side and was inside her before she could take her next breath.
It was hot and furious, just the way she liked it.
To be fair, she liked it all the ways with Noah. She liked all the things about Noah.
Which was the entire problem.
No.
She pushed thoughts of what those feelings might mean from her head. There was only room for one thought and that was how good he was making her feel at that exact moment.
And that was really fucking good.
They both came quickly, but he didn’t release Faith right away. Instead, Noah reached up, stroked a stray hair off her cheek, and looked directly into her eyes.
She tried to look away but his gaze held her.
Faith shook her head, silently willing him not to say anything, not to wreck what had just been a near perfect moment. But there was no help for it.
“Faith?”
She didn’t answer.
He kissed her softly, sucking her bottom lip a little when he released.
“I think I’m falling in love with you.”
Shit.
She squeezed her eyes shut and that’s when she knew for sure.
She had to end it. For real this time.
